well i just joined the site yesterday, and I'm thinking about getting into the hobby. i think i narowed my choice of my first nitro truck down to the revo tmaxx or the savage. what would be your choice, would it be one of these or do you have another in the same price range you would pick.
I'm also looking at durabilty in my choice. well i look forward to any advice that comes my way

Get the REVO!!!
It will give you more options in the long run.
If you decide to just bash, it will rock but if you decide to race you'll have an excellent platform to start from.
Traxxas is probably the best producer of RC products for beginners.
The EZ-Start is convenient and their customer service is excellent.

I agree with ya brad55102 the Revo is a good truck, but the EZ-Start was crap for me, so took it off (extra weight off) But thats JMO...

If it were me and price were an issue, I would have to go with a Losi Aftershock. A steal at $369.99 when you consider that the rig has THE BEST RTR radio system, bar none. Add the fact that it is as close to race-ready as you can get out of the box and you have no reason to look elsewhere.

Good luck deciding, and have fun!

customer service

how is hpi's customer service or is why is traxxs so much better

On the 2 occasions I've had dealing with support from either company they have both been very good. I tend to lean towards HPI but both companies have stellar support reputations. The only dig I have against Traxxas is they tend to have a lot of non-standard or make-specific parts which can limit your flexibility. 80% of the RS4 parts are completely interchangeable with MT2 parts etc. I find it saves me having to have multiple spares for each kit.

So far, both Traxxas and HPI customer service have both been flawless, and HPI even sent me parts for free when I had problems finding them in the manual.

Traxxas has an excellent e-mail system although their phone service is merely OK. HPI's e-mail absolutely SUCKS (3 weeks almost between replies) but their phone service is just perfect.

For durability, there is simply no question. The HPI Savage is THE most durable truck out there. You could throw it off a cliff not break anything. For that matter, HPI's entire line seems to be some of the most durable chassis out there. Traxxas on the other hand is geared more towards the absolute beginner with most of their rigs, except for the Revo which has a few versions geared towards beginners and experts (racers) alike.

I am going with the losi boys of course. Get the aftershock. Great value and great price.

Stay away from traxxass.

But of your 3 options go with the Savvy.

When it comes to durability, I would put my T-maxx up against a Savage any day. I'm not saying the savage is a bad truck, but the T-maxx can hold it's own.

What does your local hobby shop support? Something to consider when buying, it sucks to be down over a small common part but your lhs doesn't carry it.

I prefer Savage over T-maxx or Revo but, IF you plan to race too then a Revo is probably the better choice.

well thanks for your opinions and sugestions I'm going with the savage. lots of people had good things to say about the tmaxx but their was nothing negative said about the savage even from tmaxx fans

I came in late on this one but smiles679, "

!" I get more impressed with the Savage every time I take it out.
