I'm currently runing an O.S. #8 in my O.S. RG. I'm not a master at tuning and everything seems to run decent except it likes to stall if it idles for more than 4 or 5 seconds. I assume LSN is too lean. Anyways, just for the sake of self learning and experimentation I threw in an O.S. A3 plug. Although it was even MORE apt to stall it seemed to run with quite a bit more spunk. Throttle input seemed much more reactive. However I don't want to continue to use the A3 since they're not really supposed to be used for .21's from what I've read (at least from O.S.) so what is the basic rule of thumb? When changing to a hotter plug do you richen your settings or lean them?

Let the head temp. determine what the mixture should be, hotter plugs help with idle quality and throttle response but dont make a diff on the top end. Sounds like your LSN is rich, does it idle up and die or idle down and die?? if it goes up add 1/4 turn if it goes down subtract 1/4 turn. Also count how many seconds it takes for the engine to die when pinching the fuel feed line.......3 seconds is good....longer and LSN is too rich.......shorter and LSN is too lean!

May also want to check the idle set screw and the throttle trim settings on your TX. Sometimes the idel set screw can back itself a bit and allow the carb to close off.

I usually set my LSN to 4 second pinch test stall. Then lean it 1/16-1/8 turn at a time until I get good launch after idling for 5-10 seconds and it doesn't sound flat or boggy from bottem to mid range. Once you find the range put a mark on the LSN housing and you can tweak it lean or rich 45 deg turn (1/8th turn) left or right from there when the weather changes.
