I think I've seen 3 really good racers all love the Jato and set it up to their specs.....raced them for a few weeks and ALL went back to their RC10GTs.......this was the same Jato that all 3 had BTW......they all complained about the front not being as good as the AE and Losi stuff........if you want to bash get a MT or truggy...the stadium trucks are real boring on streets and grass fields......I had one )RC10GT) for less than a day and dumped it cause it was THE MOST frusterating RC to drive...I did well but you really have to be on point to drive one well......I like equipment that lets me try harder lines not limit me to a more fragile/slower/harder to control RC.......they are fun and make you a better racer but I just can't see someone using it as a basher for very long......

What is the top speed of a savage .25 out of the box and is 400 a good price for one
40mph I believe. If your new to the hobby, speed is the last thing ya should be thinking about. Speed+Inexperiance= Lots of broken parts= $$$$ Get something that handles good, get the hang of it, and then worry about speed.

I'm not completely new to the hobby I've been in it for about 3yrs but havent driven a nitro in 1yr becuase my last one was nitro rush i bought it used and had a few troubles with it from the start fuel lines, motor etc. and just kept getting worse so its siting in the basement colleting dust

what kind of battery pack do you use with a roto start?....7.2v,6v?

or just AA?

For the controller starter thing you use a 7.2 V. I would recommend getting a rechargable 6V Hump battery pack for your reciever, too.

If I understand you - you want to race more then bash and have around $400 to spend?

The Jato is a fast light truck and is pretty hard to drive until you get used to it(and that can take some time).

Revo - great truck out of the box - but you will end up spending a lot of cake to get it to be competitive on the track. I am sure some of the guys here can testify to that.

TNX Pro - Out of the box can compete with heavily modded Revos. Tamiya has also came out with a Pillow (some peeps call them Pivot Balls) Ball Suspension upgrade which then allows for fine tuning the truck.

Savage - The best basher hands down - You will need to spend some $$ and mod this truck to get it racing and be competitive.

MT Class is a blast and I find MT easier to drive then 1/10 scale stadium trucks.

Just make sure you have fun with which ever truck you get!!

Yea I think I'm gonna go with the savage my friends are getting some I think were gonna set up a track with some jumps, hill climbs and some tug o war

and I'm gonna race at the local tracks may not be to competive but itll be fun after the .25 engine wears ill exchange it for a 4.6

aint them like $599?? They look like decent trucks but seem more setup for racing than bashing IMO. Stick with the Savage/MT class if your mainly bashing.

Theres a new truck i'm looking at... HPI MT 2 RTR and it looks good for you. It's basically a Rush EVO with 4WD and it's built better. It comes with almost everything you need, and a great beginner engine too, the Nitro Star T-15 and you should be familier with the engine and tuning requierments. Since it's 4WD, it's considered a truck and not a ST which means it has fair handling and you should get used to it easy. It can't compete with the savage because of the 2nd gear in the savage.

i would say like a lightining pro or some kind of truggy
