One of the last things I need for my build i’m planning is a transmitter. i’m thinking of getting the futaba 3pv but i’m not sure if I spend a little extra or not. I will be using the car for racing any suggestions on any others in a similar price range or reasons why I should get something that costs a little more?

Agreed on flysky NB4. Best purchase I made in my rc career

Flysky is the best bang for your buck radio on thr market currently. The new NB4 plus which I just got is 300bucks. High quality ,machined aluminum, touch and colors screen. Rechargeable batteries, very nice and quality feel. And every setting you need like epa, dual rate, sub trims, trims, mixing, expo and curves. The 3PV is outdated imo but still quality and a good radio, your just limited to 3 channels and basic settings are older lcd type screen

Sorry on my typos. My phone broke and using my tablet. Tablet keyboard and typing sucks lol

I held and tested other radios like Sanwa M17s, Futaba 7px, 7pxr, 10px, 4pm, and spektrum dx5c. They are all nice radios but overpriced. Especially if you have multiple cars and expensive receivers, stuff gonna add up.

From myexperience, Futaba and Sanwa receivers are 50 to 130 bucks for 1. Flysky receivers are 20 to 40 bucks. Also antenna VS antenna less receivers. @bill_delong can go more into detail

man that costs a lot more but I mean you gotta pay to play. I guess if it’s really that much more worth it though i’ll have to get it it seems

I just won’t know what to do with all the features lol
I have a brand new Graupner X-8E that I will sell for $200 + shipping
https://www.rcdriver.com/graupner-x-8e-4-channel-2-4ghz-hott-color-tft-surface-radio/

It's an excellent system that I have kept as a backup because I sold my original X-8E along with a used car deal a while back and that's when I started testing the NB4.

My deal will include a carry case and several Rx's, I can take some pics if interested

I might be how does it compare to the nb4?
It offers all the same ergos, touch screen, etc, however the battery doesn't hold a charge as long, something like 4 hours for the X-8E where the NB4 can go 16 hours. The NB4 is also smaller and has antennaless Rx's. The quality of steering/throttle response is identical and ease of use for the touch screens on both systems are identical, my lap times are the same between radios. The X-8E is discontinued, but you won't find anything else as nice for the price with a new system.

hmm thanks for the offer but i think i might just get the nb4

If you start to put RC transmitter features under the microscope, and are planning on racing, an adjustment on servo speed feature may something you will want to use down the road if/when super fast servo speed is onboard your ride, and you need to calm things down. That feature alone will almost always separate lower end/entry level radios from the more advanced stuff out there.

I always begin my transmitter searches with the "must haves" (things I don't want to be without). For me its sub-trims, servo speed, and timer. If a radio does not have those features, it's simple... they don't make it on my prospective radio wish list. All the other bells and whistles that come on mid to upper level radios are just bonuses for me. Your "must haves" may be different.

It could come down to budget, how a person scrolls through all the different parameters, or just plain feel of the transmitter in you hands.

Good luck!

I think that's a great place to start. Hopefully I/we can come back, in about eight years, with final thoughts on quality and toughness for FlySky's Noble.

Damn you. I’ve been wanting this radio for a while And now that there’s a deal it’s hard to pass up
I was going to order it the day I posted the link, I have several RCs to bind it to. But I ended up getting some other RC stuff. The sale ends the 31st, I believe.
