Hello all just have a quick ? I have a rustler and need to do diff clean and lube well here is the ? What do you all use as diff fluid or grease

Like said if it's not sealed, grease. If it is sealed you can use grease or fluid. (Or technically if it's not sealed you can still use fluid but very thick fluids like 500k or 1m) I like to use red and tacky from Lucas oil. Or red synthetic from mobil1 as a grease. Use that thing on everything lol.

Magnum 272 or magnum 272r? 272 i use the ame grease i coat the tranny gears in. If it's a 272r you have a sealed diff to play with.

Love the name by the way but I belive it the 272 it older I have went thru it where my son crashed about 12 years ago and totally have re done it all but training and it seemed a bit slow after I got all back together and so I pulled all the gears and cleaned and put all bearing in 3 in one oil but in diff was a very gritty black grease and I suspect that my problem

If it’s that old, it’s definitely the old style tranny. No sealed diff. Any ol’ “high temp” grease will do fine. Red n Tacky seems to be a crowd favorite, but I’ve used wheel bearing grease with good luck because that’s just what I had laying around.

Make sure to check your slipper pads. They can cause issues like you’re describing if they’re glazed over and slipping or the nut is too loose. New pads are fairly cheap and not a bad idea if you’re doing a full rebuild.
