The Revo 3.3 tends to have a higher center of gravity so you can't turn as sharply on the pavement as a buggy. I run a 3.3 with about the same ratio of dirt to road. There are plenty of upgrades available for the Revo.

If you're going to get a Revo, here are some upgrades to consider:

RPM Arms (they're almost indestructible with a lifetime warranty)
Motor Saver Air Filter (also get the outer prefilter both say 2.5r but work on the 3.3)
Lunsford Titan um Pushrods (Very light and strong)
Lunsford Titanium Toe Links
Center Differential Conversion (eliminates the weak Reverse and allows better traction)
Rear Brake Kit
Upgraded Skidplates ( I use Hardcore Racing Titanium)

The only upgrade I would recommend before running is the Motor Saver Air Filter. The rest can be done as you can afford or as they break.
 
If your going 80% off road then you might want to just stick with a MT, like the Revo or Savage. Revo is the better of the two in the handling department, the savage is better at taking a beating, although both are very strong.

The reason the Revo and savage are so bad on road is because of their suspension travel, and high center of gravity. Those make for great off road ability, but not so great cornering.

Would it be possible to eliminate some of the suspension travel on the Revo for a parking lot? From looking at the pictures I really can't see any way. I guess you could always run the suspension really soft?

Would be very difficult to make your own skid plate? I think I would probably just try to build my own bumpers and skid plate out of alum. first.
 
i would get a savage x 4.6 rtr or a kit. i have also been riding (atvs though) for a long time. it took me awhile before i got my savage because i did a lot of research. nice yzf is that a 250 or 450? looks like a 250 to me

What's a very 'well' known (aka trustworthy) internet dealer? To me the Revo seems to have the better suspension set up.

What year is the bashee you ride?

well if you plan on doing any racing than i would deff. get the revo. ya they have a very good setup since they have a much lower center or gravity and stuff. i am not sure what how good they are for bashing but for bashing the savage is probally the best. but they take alot of mods to be good racers. I'm not sure of a well know dealer since i have a really good local shop. but www.rcplanet.com seems really good and probally www.hobbypeople.com. i have a 2002 banshee along with a 2005 yfz 450.

Thanks for the sites. I won't be doing any of that jumping pretty much straight up in the air, and then falling straight down. Or 'bashing'

Have any pictures of your quads?
 
Straight up and down with MT's is what blows shocks... If you have decent forward momentum, a lot of the shock from impact goes forward instead of the suspension absorbing it all. Your better off doing high speed distance jumping than high short distance jumping.

I found out the hard way a few times at a skate park. With the right setup, you can do it, but you will have a hard time getting a revo to be able to take that kind of jumping very well.
 
You can lower a revo or a savage for better on road handling, but its not going to be close as good as a buggy. I'm sure if you end up with a revo or savage you probably won't want to take it off that mx track anyway haha.

The main way to lower a revo is to change the rockers, and back out the preload spacer on the shocks.

theres my banshee with older plastic i'll have to get one of my yfz. i keep the banshee at my unlces in califorina though

I don't see why you couldn't do it. I just use the titanium for the weight and strength. I wouldn't replace them until you have to though.

I guess to me a 'skid plate' totaly covers the WHOLE bottem of the machine, whatever that may be.
 
Well tonight I took my brother's Nitro Sport truck to our school's parking lot to finish breaking it in. I ran 3 tanks through it and was ready to rock. That first time I really got into the top end was just plain awesome. The front wheels weren't total straight so it wanted to push to the right. The rear knobbies are shot too. :D I had it kartwheel a couple times and she kept on asking for more.

I've pretty much desided on a Revo3.3 at this time.

I can see why you guys are so into these things. :thumbup:
