I am looking to get a SCT. I would like to get either the Traxxas Slash 2x4 or the Traxxas Slayer Pro 4x4. What do you guys think of them. which do you prefer and why? i dont know if i want the 2 wheel drive or the four. i mostly do bashing and racing my friends. i have done some research and found that both need a few upgrades right away and i am okay with that, i just need help swaying my vote one way or the other.

thanks:)

I would prefer the Slash over the slayer in that the Slash is electric and easier to maintain because of that.

Not now.....they released the Nitro Slash.

It really depends though. The Slash is basically a stretched Rustler with a 3.3, and the Slayer is basically a narrow Revo with higher gearing. The slash will be extremely easy to work on and diagnose any problems, plus most of the upgrades/mods for the Rusty will carry over. I have a Rusty and it can take some serious abuse after my upgrades. The Slayer will have better traction and control due to the 4wd, but that will also add a level of complication to working on it. Some of the upgrades for a Revo will work on it, but a lot won't because of the arms being shorter. Another plus to the Slayer is the fact that you can convert it to a Revo if you wanted to later. What do your friends run

Mostly buggies. Although one has a stampede and another has a rustler.

As far as the electric goes, I'm looking for a nitro, not electric. Thanks though.

If you're looking at nitro then the Slayer is probably the best then. I've had a Revo that it's based on and it is one of the best handling monster trucks on the market.

I'd probably have to go with the Slayer just because of the 4wd. On the other hand though, the Slash will be extremely easy to work on and possibly cheaper to turn into a solid basher. Are your buddies running 4wd buggies, what scale?

I just got a Traxxas Slayer Pro 4x4 " end of MAY " with the TRX3.3 nitro Engine.. & its one of my Favorite Rig's to run NOW... I like the Rig so much I am saving up to get another Slayer Pro 4x4...

Ok so lets through another wrench into tho bag. Would you guys recommend any other brand. I'm open to anything but I do want something that ill be able to buy parts/upgrades for. I started with traxxas and I know that's what my LHS carries. Keep in mind I am looking for a SCT and also a NITRO!
Thanks in advance.

I would get a Traxxas Slayer Pro 4x4 Model #59074... I got my Slayer in May & it's now my Favorite Rig to run. & I own 2 other Traxxas Vech's 4-Tech & Classic T-Maxx 2.5R... When I go out Bashing with my Friend my Slayer is always the Rig I take along.... I like the Slayer so much I am Saving Up to get another Slayer Pro 4x4... My LHS does not stock Slayers Parts... Because they don't carry Slayers... But I have NO PROBLEMS getting part's / Hop-up Parts from Tower Hobbies.Com All of the Parts ?I have gotten are in a IN STOCK STATUS... so no worries there....

FYI : I am thinking about getting a Traxxas Nitro Slash but my 1st choice is still saving up to get another Slayer... FOR me I only buy TRAXXAS..

Look at the Losi Ten-SCT, it's 4wd, cheaper than the Slayer (only $20 more than the Slash per Traxxas/Losi sites), has a better engine, will probably out handle either of the Traxxas rigs, and it's not an OVERPRICED Traxxas.

I'm not bashing Traxxas either, they make great trucks and have great customer service, it's just the fact that their prices have been going up without any real improvements to the vehicles. They would be great if they offered rollers, other than just the Slash 4x4.

I would have to disagree with you Schrode... I think Traxxas Prices on there vehicles & parts are on the Norm & pretty steady... Losi is Now Horizon Hobbies " from a Buyout I heard " & I buy only 100% TRAXXAS....

Traxxas has about a 10-15% higher price than other brands from what I've seen.

I Disagree with you hamz... I think Traxxas Brands are not that far OFF from other brands IE HPI / Losi " now horizon hobbies " Team Asc ECT.... Traxxas is a front runner in the R/C industry @ least in my thoughts" I'd say @ least in the top-5 most thought after Rig's & Car's on the market now... I mean if I had my choice of a brand new "given to me" HPI SAVAGE or Traxxas T-Maxx 3.3.. I'd take the T-Maxx 3.3 in a hart beat & never give the SAVAGE a 2nd look... NOT that I am Bashing on any other Rig or company I think the SAVAGE is an awesome Rig on both end's Nitro & Electric.... But for me I am a 100% TRAXXAS FAN I love every Rig & Car they have & the parts they offer either stock replacement or upgrade... My Bashing Friends make fun of me a lot because I stick to buying ONLY TRAXXAS RIG's Well @ least I ant my Friend Jeff that has 7 Rigs all mixed some Traxxas / HPI / LOSI / Team Asc & has parts all over his shed & can't figure out what parts are for what RIG... He says he likes spreading his money out to all of the popular Brands.

You're missing out. Plus Traxxas is a PITA to deal with when you're a HS, I found that out from working at my LHS.

Check my quote, I said when you're a HS. They are great to the end customer, but a pain when you're the middle man. Your friends problem is an organization one, and it's not because he has different brands. He would have that issue if they were all Traxxas, if you ever get a different rig you'll find out that a part for one truck may not work on another. I have 5 Traxxas rigs and 3 Losi ones, I keep all of my parts and pieces seperate. It's okay to be a Traxxas fan boy, especially as a noob, Traxxas is great for beginners because almost every HS sells their parts.

Okay, so i looked at the Losi TEN-SCT and i found that everyone who bought this truck had many problems right out of the box. most said gears stripped while doing just the brake in, that the R.O.S.S. system sucks and that it would brake very quickly of getting the truck, along with other things. now i know that most are not going to buy an RC and be happy with stock parts and settings forever, which is why they make aftermarket parts and i am all for buying aftermarket parts to make your car better, faster, stronger. But when the factory parts dont even last long enough for the break in or if they do, they certainly wont last long enough for you to get a good feel for the truck or gain a true love for it i tend to stay away.

dont get me wrong it is a nice rig and i really like the look and the price. but these things are steering me away from this losi and back to Traxxas. i have traxxas and haven't had crazy problems like this.

i havent looked into any other brands as i dont really know who else has a well built NITRO SCT. if you guys know of any others feel free to let me know, or if you want to comment on something someone else or myself said feel free to sway me back to Losi.

thanks again for your help. :D
