I am a noobie to RC cars, well I had a fairly good electric in yester year, but I would like to get a nitro oone now.

I don't have a money tree so my buget is around £300 ($500). I am going to mainly to use it for fun and race my friends- casually. What is the best one ot go for?

I have been recomended all sorts - mainly 1/10th scale trucks from popular makes, but someone suggested that GV (although bad reputation) Rex-x is an good 1/8th buggy (So tougher, 4wd and .21 engine) for a very cheap price.

I would be greatful if someone could let me know if the rex-x is a really bad choice, as the 1/8th etc appeals to me, and if so what other model would be a wise choice.

Thanks Dr Stof

One of the first questions/projects for you is to go out to your local hobby shops and see what they stock parts for. If you find that all the local shops only stock parts for one car/truck/buggy then see if thats a ride you are interested in.

Of all the rides I own....NONE of them are supported at my LHS. So when something breaks (as they do) I'm down for sometimes weeks at a time waiting either for the cash to buy new parts or for the part to be shipped in the mail. Nothing is more fustrating than having a wonderfull day outside...temps just right...killer bashing spot but no working vehicle.....

Once you get past that, there are TONS of choices out there. All have their niche in the market. For some its price, some is quality, some features, some is speed. Some rides are great bashers but poor racers and some are great races but poor bashers.

Do some homework, check around the local scene. Dig around the board for a while (the search function is your friend). There are alot of knowledgable opiniated people here that love to share both.

Welcome to RCNT. THE Best damn RC site on the planet....

I would recommend the T MAXX or the Savage because they are right in your budget and still have somecash left over for some 20% and some mods. Now when you say race with your friends, do you mean race or just drive around and do some jumps and bashing. If so then get one of the above. My man robriguez is right, RCNT Rules, and robriguez, it is alomost 420 time!
