Just bought my first RC Truck and just got it started tonight. I have bought a 1/10 Nitro Powered 4WD Truck (U-GO FS Racing). Anyways, the truck would not just sit there and idle and when i prop it up it seems to be revving high.

I was so excited about getting it started so I took it for a spin in the snow, it was great for the 10 mins that it ran. It stalled a few times but I got it going again. The last time it stalled i tried to start it but i would not go. There is still nitro in the tank and as I pull to start it all 4 wheels wanted to spin. Is this normal? Before i got it started, i can push the car back, but now I cannot push the car back whether the engine is on or off.

Do you know what happened and what should I do to fix it.

Thanks,

Sounds like your clutch locked up. It could either be a blown bearing (likely) or a broken spring. Either way, you'll have to pull the motor out of the truck and remove the gear on the front (held in place either by a C clip or a screw). Be sure to use plenty of threadlock (the blue stuff) when reassembling.

Hope that helps!

Is this a brand new truck? If so, you NEED to take time to break it in properly before you get to running wild with it.

As for the problem, :stupid: JK HeartBreak

Question did you break it in. If not wow the staling problem could leed to something serious. Be careful about it.

I am new at this this may be a stupid question but will i be able to start it even though the clutch is stuck?

Did you break in the truck?

Technically you could get it started with a stuck clutch, if you start it in the air lol, and you probably won't be able to stop without stalling the engine.

There's only one way to find out if it will still start so i prop it up and tried to start it and it did.

Does anyone know if brown liquid stuff coming out of the exhaust is a bad sign?

Probably. It's either mud or rust or something else that isn't good in any way.

Or at least I can't think of any way that it's a good thing.

It depends. If it's brown like mud, then that's bad. If it's brown like motor oil, thatn that's good. It's normal for some oil to drip out of the exhaust after you run.

Chances are its just oil coming out of your exhaust which is fine. Take out your mill, see whats up with your clutch, then do a break in. No need to start it when your clutch is messed up anyway.

its not dark brown oil, more like lighter brown...anyways, i will take it apart and take a look inside....

thanks

At this point, I think you're going to need to take some time to get to know your truck. Unless something has changed, you'll need to remove and inspect your clutch to see if it has been damaged. Sounds like it needs fixin'.

And one quick question that no one has seemed to ask. How old is this thing? If it's brand new, might your hobby shop be willing to exchange it for one that isn't already breaking down?

I took the clutch apart and replaced it with a new one. 5 mins after i started it and the clutch got stuck again.

Does any one know how to prevent the clutch from melting?

yes, I have replaced the clutch with a new one and it has a spring attached to it already.
