What greases/oils do you use for what applications?

I use red n tacky from Lucas oil or red synthetic from mobil1 for diff/transmissions or gear boxes. (Well diffs if it's a older style non sealed diff)

On regular sealed diffs I use regular silicone oil/fluid. Like in my tlr i use 12k in a 4 gear diff. In my b74 my setup is 15/200/15k. In my slash I have 200k. Depends on what surface your running on and how you want your car to drive.

For shocks, regular silicone fluid. If it's new shocks I'm assembling, I might use some green slime from associated on the rings and spacers

Also have a little tub of black grease. Usually use that when building new turnbuckles.

never had a sealed diff. open gear diffs i pack with Mobil synthetic gear grease i get from work. ball diffs i use the AE's white i think it's lithium grease on the balls and rings and AE's black grease on the thrust.

use AE's black grease on CVD's.

shocks iv built up quite a selection of AE silicone shock oil. used to occasionally use Losi. nothing wrong with it, but there is apparently a difference between AE 30 weight and Losi 30 weight, damned if i could tell, but in the name of consistency i stick with AE.

for bearings i just use 3 in One oil.

and iv been known to use various dry graphite powders on hinge pins/suspension arms over the years. stopped using it about 10 years ago when i ran out. don't really see the need anymore. i also used to polish my hinge pins with Turtle Wax chrome polish. but haven't done that in forever ether...

and to clean all that slippery up, carburetor cleaner or brakleen.

Superlube for gears, plastic and rubber parts.
I found a deal on large bottles of silicone oil on ebay. Only 1 bottle of 200cst so far but was def a smart bulk buy for me.
If I have any metal on metal, I have a bunch of red and tacky in the garage.
Not oil but... Blue Locktite stick.
Just bought a big bottle of Permatex "Threadlocker BLUE".
I use graphite spray on things that need a 'dry lube' . Its MESSY but it works great!

Brakleen, rubbing alcohol, citrus hand degreaser, WD40 and Simple Green all work great for cleaning up ( depending on the mess)👍
Mothers Mag and Chrome polish is AMAZING too.😉

Dawn dish soap works pretty good to. used to use it on my nitro stuff a lot. used to have a couple quart size hand sprayers, one full of soapy water the other full of clean water. would spray the dirty spots and let it soak then come back and rinse with the clean water. saved a fortune on nitro cleaner that way.

I don't think it really matters to be honest as long as you're not mixing things. I've used automotive bearing grease, black graphite grease, red n tacky, whatever I happen to have on hand, etc in diff gears with zero issues. I use whatever silicone oil happens to be on sale in shocks and sealed diffs. Never had a problem from the type of lubricants I've used... I've only ever had a problem from the *amount* I've used 😂

Dawn Power Wash will forever change your RC cleaning regiment. Just be mindful to not spray bearings directly, because it will wash the grease out. It's good stuff and works way better than normal dawn dish soap for whatever reason.

For Bearings I use Acer SIN Lube:

For sealed Diffs I use Associated Diff Fluid:

For Sealing my needles on a nitro engine, I use Associated Green Slime:
(WickedFog can tell you were to get the same exact stuff but cheaper)

For shocks I use Losi Shock Oil:

For unsealed diffs, transmissions, and virtually everything else I use Mobil 1 Synthetic grease:
