I'm going to get a savage so i need a glow ignitor. I'm new to these because i have been using the easy start on my revo. is there a specific kind i need? can you give me some good options?

THNX

i have a dynamite glo starter. got it for about $25 from lhs but you can prolly get it cheaper online. it has a compass like readout on the top that shows how charged the battery is and if the glo plug is good and hot. comes with a sub-c size 1300mah ni-ca battery and an overnight charger. i also bought an extra 1500mah ni-ca battery for $4 to have a spare charged one on hand.

works great i might add as well.

Yup, I have the Dynamite, don't remember how much I paid, but works well and I always know what shape the batt is in.

Me too!!!! They are perfect cuz you can get your fingers on the handles to get the glo plug in the hole. very nice...

can you give me a link to the dynamite. i can't seem to find it on towerhobbies.

I just spotted one on Horizon, it has the meter, but not the handy handles. The upside is it's 14.00. Just go to horizonhobby.com and do a search. Don't forget to order it with the charger.

All ya have to do is make sure ya get the long one. Cuz the short one is a pain in the ass.. So far I havnt noticed any difference in my XTM ones, Tower hobbies ones, and a Dubro one.. To me there the same...

I don't know about you guys, but I don't like the ones that you have to twist on and off (doesn't have handles). Sometimes they stick too much to the pug and then you can't get it off.

Those suck! My friends and i use the handled ones, and they are great! I hate the twisting ones, because of the reason above, and i have had no luck with them...

lol??

You gotta be dumb if you can't get the twist style off.

Plus, there is no need to hold it down.

Its so easy.

Not to mention you can't match the 5000mah battery it uses.

Twist lock glow heaters are a bigger pain in the a$$ to get on than they are to get off. I have both types in glow clips, that I use with a power panel on my starter box and the only reason the twist on clip is still in my tool box is for an emergency backup.

jesus christ that thing will take a week to charge. it takes a 1300-1500mah to charge overnight.

I have some of the twist on ones and the clip ons, and liek I said, I dont see much differance in them. I havent had any of the twist ones stick on, and I havnt had any probs with the clip ones.. Ok I take that back, the twist ones wont work on Odonell plugs, but thats about the only draw back in my opinion.. I guess if I just had one, it might be a issue, but I have like 6 of them, so I just grab whichever ones there.. And actually the one I got from tower, I think I've only charged once, and I've had it for a long time... But again I have a bunch of them so.. yeah... all the same to me..

I have the Dynamite with the meter. I have the regular "c" cell and bought some 4000mah batts to use with it. They dont take that long to charge if you have a good charger!!

how would you hook up the thing that connects to the ignitor to a better charger? Do you have 1 charger for the ignitor and another for your other batts or something?

Went to Radio Shack and bought a 2 "c" cell holder. Put the Tam connector on it and its done.

Looks just like the Dynamite.A lot of times things are just renamed but same product. Just like the Duratrax temp guage, they are the same as a few others.
