I took everyones advice and called my local HS. I was getting a price on a Hyper 7. He told me between 600 and 650. (plus our 15% tax). That's like 750. Yowser!! Anyway, this guy tried to tell me that nobody buys nitro buggies anymore, they buy truggies or MT's. Did this guy not have anything in stock or what?? What up? :arrr:

EDIT: ADDED FROM OTHER THREAD>

I meant to post this here instead of the nitro forum. My local HS told me that nobody buys nitro buggies anymore. They all buy truggies and MT's. What the h#@. Does he not read Xtreme Cars or RC Driver. I dont' understand why he would say that. I was trying to get a price on the Hyper 7, as rec. by you knowledgeable guys.

That is way to steep. Have you trying to get it elsewhere?

Hey Jon2

Ya got that right! Not yet. It's 5:30 and all the other places are closed. I should check with Tower cause I bet I could get it cheaper in the US.

just check for the shipping..they can be a killer!

Definately go to tower. Once you know what you want, you can get some killer deals on there. My Mugen MBX would have cost me nearly a grand locally, but I got it for $750 off tower. By the time you factor in coupons, the shipping was free, and I had it within a couple days (from the Reno center).

Does Rush carry them? Give one of our sponsors a shot 1st. They will probably be the cheapest, and have the best service.

if ya do go to tower heres some coupons things from in my mag that will save ya a couple bucks.

orders 250-299.99 Save $20 011LJ
300+ Save $25 011LK

LSH advice should always be taken with a grain of salt. There are some guys out there that are truely only into helping a fellow RC-er out with help and advice but in my opinion most LHS guys will try to steer you towards what they have instead of what you want for the fact that they want you to buy from them. Also, in general most LHSs are more expensive than buying on line. Its the service and help that makes the LHS a good place to go to or buy not the prices. So if they dont even offer good service then I would suggest looking for a different LHS.

As for the comment on buggies, he was most likely referring to what the local market is. If hes been there a while and sees that most people only buy trucks and truggies then I can see why he would tell you that. Keep in mind most LHSs are just that, "Local".

Rightio. The only reason I bought my car and everything else at my LHS is because they are VERY nice to thier customers, and don't care what you get because they have everything!

Anyhow, I don't see why your LHS guy would say no-one wants buggies...to my knowledge(which isn't much, in RCs anyway), buggies are actually "in".

I would suggest trying to find another hobby store before buying off tower. Its a nice to be able to have you're HS dudes personally help you(not as though I don't like RCNT...I would be out $400 if it wasn't for some of the guys here.)

I get that kind of crap all of the freeking time... I hate it. "no... you don't want that, it's junk" ("it" was a revo). Then he tried to get me to buy the Duratrash 1/5 zenoa powered buggy thing.

My latest LHS stupid moment was when I went in for a 40T spur for my revo to replace the 36T spur. The guy asked why I wanted a bigger one, I said I wanted more low end power. He said the bigger one makes it faster... Then I just told him "How about we agree to disagree... now give me the 40T so I can leave!"

Listening to the LHS people can get you into a world of hurt in a very short while. Unfortunatly, you just have to read forums like this place and make up your own mind. Then don't be swayed on some LHS guy telling you what's what.

I may be a pain in the a#%,but at least I value what you guys have to say. After reading for hours on this site, I know which ones know their stuff. I value all the help and thanks for putting up with all the questions.

You know, if we weren't taxed to death here in Canada, I'd be able to afford the Hyper 7. Maybe I'll save up some more cash to get it.

is it possible to travel over the border and get one? Or are you father away then that(I suck at Geography)?

I've found that prices in canada are much more then in the us. I live in a border town I see what is comming and going. My advice to you would be to buy one from an online dealer, you'll pay a bit more for shipping but will be nowhere near what you will pay at your lhs.

Have a buddy in the states buy it for ya and ship it to ya. I will, but it might have some dirt on it..lol..
But yeah I agree with VB. Order it online. Parts ya can buy at the LHS if ya really wanna support them.
