a friend of mine wants to sell his jato next month for $120 and i want it!...it's the old jato..not the 3.3...i thought of getting it and then buying the 3.3 engine....the pros i see with the jato is..my LHS stocks almost everything for the jato...its 2wd(i think).. it looks good for the desert and the way i bash...its really fast...what i dont like about it is its small and everything in it is packed together.. and i think it breaks too fast...so i want to know what do you guys think?

*cough cough*buy a t maxx*cough cough* :D

The Jato is a fine truck, but like anything, you gotta know your limits with it. 120 bucks is a helluva deal, as long as its in tip top shape or nearly.

I've never driven one but I know OldsLSS has had one for a while and it seems to me from his posts that he really enjoys it. I have pondered many times of buying one as well but the only thing that has held me back is that it's not a vehicle that's setup for racing. My passion is racing more than bashing even though I really do neither. Anyways, it looks like a fun truck. Like you said, they are fast. That 2spd really get's it going I'm sure and for just over a c-note you can't really pass it up unless it's really beat up.

i know...i was going to get a 2 speed for my buggy which ironically costs more than the jato :P i couldn't find anyone who's selling a tmaxx..i wish i can find a revo at that price...great car! :(

Just keep searching and wait for the opportune time, you'll find one sooner or later. Hell...I waited almost 3 years to find a cheap cheap t maxx, mostly because I'm a poor boy lol. But I only paid 75 bucks for it and even though its benched more often than run, its because I drive it like I stole'd it, hehehe. Seems like all I see, picture wise, in the forums is all these pretty, sparkly, unmarked trucks...well, where in the world is a beat up t maxx picture?!

Yep. The Jato is a fun truck to own. However, I only bash and typically run it in a skate park or on grass. From what I've read, guys that bash on sand with it and paddle tires have a tendency to blow the trans. They upgrade the trans with brass gears off ebay for $80.

Mine has RPM arms all around and the original 2.5 engine in it now. It holds up really well to the bashing I do. I drive it basically like I drive my savage and aftershock. Lots of jumping. I put revo white springs on the rear and a bit heavier oil than stock to handle the 5+ feet of air I get under it frequently. I also have new era's 17mm wheel adapters so I can run buggy tires/wheels on it. Makes it sit a little higher off the ground for bashing in the lawn.

The only bad stuff about it is the stock pipe is junk and the brakes are junk. I put a jato 3.3 resonator on it and a 90oz servo for t/b along with a little aluminum brake arm. Now the engine performs a lot better and the brakes actually work.

For $120, I'd buy it without hesitation... I think I got mine for $200 or so a year or so ago with RPM, no electronics and a 2.5 that looks like death.

o0o0o0oo just came bak from the lhs...they dont sell the 3.3 engine !!!! they have a hyper 7 for sale...i have a hyper 8 so i dont see a reason why to buy it...I'm going in 2 days and i'll tell you guys exactly what they have second hand...i really like the jato tho...

I would get it. I have a 3.3 Jato and it is a rocket on two wheels. I say two whhels because the front stay in the air the whole times it seems. I have found it to be pretty tough. The front turnbuckels are about all I have broken so far after a year and a half. Put paddles on the rear and some good ribbed tires on the front and you are good to go.

If its in good shape get it, they are fast trucks when set up right! I have one with lots of upgrades done to it, i am running a OS 21TM with 23/53 gearing and its wicked. It needs taller 16/40 revo gears now, it needs more speed. LOL!

for $120 that is an extremely great deal, I had the 3.3 before I sold mine to my friend, as for driving the truck its fun on pavement, it wasn't much fun off road for me, but it was supa fast, and it always did wheelies. nice truck but its not much of a basher.

Hey guys, this thread was started in November with this guy Nitro_Desert. He has since left this site due to his lack of care and use of his stay here. He bought the Jato, but I feel sorry for whatever he did to it.

If i could I'd lock this down but I don't have the power. Anything to do with Nitro_desert is better left unsaid.
