hello guys

I want to buy new car .I have three choice .could you please help me?

1) Serpent 710

2) Mugen MTX3 prospec

3) KYOSHO FW-05R

thanks alot for your help

My choice would be the Mugen MTX-3 because I have one. But you can't go wrong with either the Serpent or the Mugen. They both are top racing cars.

I would suggest one thing to help you decide, the availability of spare parts in your area. All three are good cars and I've been kicking around the idea of getting a 710 myself. Where in Turkey are you? I've been to Istanbul a few times.

All three are competent racers. I am currently racing a pair of serpent sedans, but if I were to add a new car to my stable from the choices provided, I'd go with the kyosho. I've seen the car a couple of times and I am extremely impressed.

The MTX-3 and 710 are comprable in features and performance. What one doesn't do, the other does. Pretty much even in the +/- catagory. I have the 710. What stopped me from getting the Mugen was parts availability. The kyosho fw05 is a nice car as well, just didn't catch my eye as something that I wold want. That's just my choice.

As jetmech said, see what's available for you in your regional area. Parts availability is a key factor in any choice.

Hello guys

thanks for your answer.jetmechG550 ,I live in istanbul

I can find spare parts all of them in istanbul so that spare part does not big problem

Mugen is tried and true and parts are decently priced. The Kyosho is the new up and comer thats doing well yet pricey thank to great planes overcharging. AS for serpent they get beat most of the time and hop ups are pricey.

The drivers get beat, not the car.

Both the MTX-3 and 710 are competative cars. As I said before, what one won't do the other will. The plus as well as minus about the 710 is that there are so many adjustments to suit your style of driving. It's just a matter of working everything out to suit your needs.

Team17 has an MTX-3 and I have a 710. Both are great cars. With an MTX-3, you will be fast out of the box. With the 710, you will have to experiment with different adjustment combos so out of the box, you will have some problems.

The 710 parts are expensive as well as "side specific." As well as mostly carbon fiber and high grade plastic. The only real hopups you would need, imo, would be the radio X brace and upgraded diff clamps. Anything else after that is up to you.

If you want a kyosho and have parts readilly available, I would suggest the VoneRRR. RatzoRC has the VoneRR and I saw it in action. A very good car and nimble. I'd pick that over the FW05R simply because it's a tested design. The FW05 is a good design but I don'tknow what the difference is between that and the R series.

the FW-05R was the hands down winner in a recent special shootout issue of RC Nitro, it was a sedan only issue. it beat out all of the newer sedans, the mugen and serpent included. if need be ill try to take pics of the article.

Ok another question. What do you thing about HPI R40.Is it true the compare with the other I don't know

Yes Corrado, I do know about that article. They weighed everything in that ... build, price, driveability, user friendliness. Everything was taken into account.

FW05 is just a more user friendly and wallet friendly car. When I was looking for a new car to race competatively, I was lucky. All three of those cars were being driven on the track I frequent, Prospeed. Also had the chance to see them in action in the A-main. 710Baby (S710), Team17(MTX-3), Ratzo(VoneRR), and a friend who's not on this board had the FW05. All did fairly well against each other.

Team17 was hacked, Ratzo was taken out accidently by my brother in a head on collision after jumping the road rail.

I never counted out the Kyosho. I just think that the MTX-3 and S710 are a bit more on the advanced side for the everyday driver.

  • In rank of driveability out of the box (lowest to highest) I would say 710, MTX-3 then the FW05.

  • Pricewise, the mugen and serpent are pretty much even (parts and kits). Kyosho is a little bit cheaper.

  • Parts availability is only relevant to your local supplier.

The R40 is also another good racer. Also very competative with the right setup and throttle control. Parts tend to be more available for the HPI cars when compared to the other 3.

All the cars mentioned in this thread are comprable in performance. It comes down to driver's preference. I have driven all 3 of the 4 cars in this thread. I didn't get a chance to try Ratzo's VoneRR but did see the kit in the pits and was very impressed.

I liked all 3 that I drove. Would've bought the MTX-3 but didn't because of the parts issue at my LHS. I didn't want a shaft driven car since I have the NTC3. I just liked the potential for the S710 and was lucky in getting a good baseline for the setup from fellow drivers that race with me during the nitro season.

Dentex, I can only suggest that you weigh the pro's and cons of the 4 cars mentioned. I will not tell you which is better or worse for you, I can only tell you what I have experienced and why I chose the S710.

Just to see things in perspective, The ROAR Region1 Touring champ is Mike Mal, a friend and fellow competitor at Prospeed. He won that title at R/C Madness this summer with his 710. A couple of months later, a fellow teammate of mine beat Mike Mal at the same track with his NTC3. Does that make the NTC3 a better car? No, just means that the better driver that day had a NitroTC3. Dentex, you have to make the final choice. Do your research on the cars and try to find nonbiased articles (pretty rare these days). Get as much feedback from owners of these cars, not just those that "know" of them.

If you can get to the local track and watch them in action in capable hands, even better. You are on the right track to choosing your car. Keep asking questions on the forum as well as in person. Take what you learn and make a wise decision based on your needs. Speed is good but handeling is even more important.

Here's the link to the thread on that article.

The screwed up part of the A-main race that diver is referring to was that the guy that hacked my car ended up winning the race. :devious:

The funny thing about RC magazines, and RC products is that the new kid on the block gets all the winning reviews. Just lick 1:1's. Ford comes out with a new body style, and BAM truck of the year. A year or two later Dodge, or Chevy does the same thing, and BAM truck of the year. They just rotate! I think the magazine editors get kickbacks for that $hit, or something.
