What do you get when 3 rc cars go bad??

You put them all together and make a shameful abomination. a Frankensteins monster....
So thats what you see here.

what we have here are the 3 aforementioned cars. a 'Contixo' 1/16 car. a 'Rapid' temu special 1/16 car. and a Hosim 1/14 car with a bunch of "pretty lights" that the wife wanted. turns out.. it wasn't a bad little car. none of these where. they are great for what they are. non hobby fun time type cars for kids.
well, they all broke down in their own special ways.. we dont need to go into it. the point is... that i just kinda... smooshed them all together to see what i couldnt come up with. its still in progress as i wait on the mail to get me the parts I'm waiting on. but i figured a good stopping point would be a good time to get back on here after a looooong time away and see what the good people of rc talk think.. even if its bad. lol.

so believe it or not. i found some metal upgrade parts for the 1/14 car. i never ended up using them. so i took them too. the required modification tho. the slotted sleeve that the axle sits in is WAY too deep. you can't get any sorta up and down motion.. so i took them to the grinder:

i forgot to take before pics. but you get the idea. i did take A LOT of metal off to get more suspension travel.

i painted everything a fluorescent yellow .. then found out that a few of the pieces didnt quite fit right.. so i went back to the grinder..

but eventually i was able to get it all back together

next up is the shocks being installed then on to the brushless upgrade. i dont have a good 'after' pic because i type this i'm waiting on the roof and the roll cage to dry. i will install it with the shocks and let everyone know how it goes.
shows you how much fun can be had with even the toy grade stuff.

I went bonkers on a deerc 200e... fun but I blew it apart with too big a motor. I'll prob put it all back together some day.
The chassis looks very similar to yours... they ARE fun and they aren't bad till you over-motor them!
Fun way to save 3 cars from the bin!!!

ah. yes.. absolutetly right. i have an extra. 2 actually.. lol. this is just for show really. couldnt stand looking at that ugly same old same old anodized red while i was building and working out what i wanted it to be, you know?.

Here the 'final' pics until I get the shocks.. so don't judge the flat stance too harshly just yet. At least until thr shocks get here and I can get some real suspension travel. Lol
also my metal mullisha sticker didnt come out super great. But i figured for toy grade.. and for something that will most definitely end up scratched?? Meh.. good enough. I've got one more different decal coming for the hood.. thats says 'metal mullisha' (i just l like the astatic). Then there will be all the sponsor decals on the doors

alright.. as promised.. updates!!.. my wife was really cool and ordered me a "1/14 brushless rc kit" from aliexpress...
not the one i wanted.. but you know what?? i know some really cool rc guys that i know will help me out.. so heres what we've got.

main concern: i didnt have a pinion to go with the 1.98 shaft.. i uhhhh... engineered something with the old stuff (lots of spare parts if you'll remember)... lol

thats right.. 2 part epoxy baby!!

second concern.. is this size difference normal?

bottom is the new brushless. top is old brushed.. i've got the keeper on the motor.. i will fit.. but is that really as big as i need? the one for my gorgon was the same size as my brushed motor. altho i am stepping up from 2s to 3s with that one.. this will stay with 2s.. is that why this motor is so much smaller?

also.. newb question.. what does "VCC" mean on this rx?

i question if that 2 part epoxy is going to hold on that motor or not. The other issue will be if pinon gear is centered on the shaft or not, cause if its not , you will never be able to get a gear mesh that is consistent and right

I've got a spare spur gear.. and if need be. I'll just order the motor that I wanted anyway.

I swapped from a small motor 380 size motor to 540 size motor. Larger can motor didn't fit the mount.
I slotted mine with a dremel and its sort of adjustable.
I got lucky.
I know the motor was sold with the pinion and mount, package deal.

DeeRC was .6 mod gear which is pretty unique.
I know a few others that used it too.
Before you start hammering gears on, prib best to do a quick brush up on how gear mesh works.
It IS actially important.

Thats one of the lights from the 1/14 car.. I soldered that lead on then glued it to a the bumper for my new 1/15 car

Think it's gonna turn out pretty good..
Got some questions tho..
How do i wire all these lights to channel 3 so I can turn them off and on thru the reciever? And not just on or off with the car like they were?
They all come with these guys on them

Isn't there a channel operated switch for (head)lights and such?
I own exactly none of these but I bet they're a big hit with crawlers and scalers.
