Just wondering what is the oldest person you've seen running MT's? Just want to make sure I not the one, or atleast have company..

i seen this old guy at this hobby shop when i got my first nitro car he was like 70 somethin with a twin maxx all aluminium. and the guy where i go now drives on road but i think he is about 65. he has a serpent that he claims is going 90 on a straight away on the track. b.s

My dad is 69 and still runs his.

He has an impressive collection of RC's.

Fasteddy has to be about 59.
LOL

Its funny because when I was mor einto flying, it was common to see a 60-65 year old out there flying. Id say the average age was like 45. But Ground Rc's, the oldest I've saw was probaly early 40's maybe. (I dont have to many bashers in my area)

IMO your never too old to play with toys! I argue with my 6 year old to see who gets the best hot wheels  I'm the oldest (33) in the group I bash with...Were working on a new guy around 40, he saw my S Maxx run two nights ago and I think I got him when it lifted the front as it shifted into second :smoke:

How old are you?

Welcome to RCMT

Nitro cars have been around for a long time but have become more common and user friendly in the last 5 years or so.
As the years go by, I think that you will see older people, not because their starting out older, but because guys like me at 39 who will continue to enjoy this side of the hobby for many years.
Think about it. In 20 years, I'll be as old as Fasteddy.

Same with our family and other people I know. The older generation seem to lean towards flying. My wife's fater is a park flyer. i tried to turn him onto Nitro MT's but he just cound't get into it as much as flying.

33! jezzz your old.... :o) NOT... me on the other hand is? I'm not telling. But good to know there's a few out there older than me.

That's not nice!

On average, the guys I race with are my age (35) to about mid 40's. I think the oldest one I saw was in his upper 50's. When it comes to planes, the retirees seem to take over the demographic group.

OK, i admit, I'm mid-40's, and the guy that paints bodies at my favorite LHS and races at least 2-3 times per week at Crystal Park R/C is 68, and HE'S good!

I think I have seen that dude there RR. I've only been there a couple times. Most of the guys I run with at the local track are early 30's. Me, I'm on my 16th anniversary of my 16th birthday!

You think 33 is old? It seems like yesterday I was 20....It sneaks up on you LOL

Your only old when you stop having fun!

I used to think 33 was getting up there, but the older I get the younger 33 starts to look...lol.. I'm 25 (Will be 26 in a couple weeks) and I feel like I'm getting old. Not so much my mind but my body..lol.. Man, I get new noises from different bones everyday..lol

Aside from when my dad drove mine (72), I ran into an older fellow while out bashing once. He was probably in his late 40's early 50's. He beat his t-maxx like he stole it! I think he replaced 3 sets of bulkheads in the hour we were there together. Then he ran out of parts and broke out an on-road car.

I'm 43 and soon to be a grandpa.
Think I'm too old to be playing with toys?
Fess up, ibinsane.... How old are ya? Trying to see if you are the oldest on here? Do ya have to lean on your walker to drive your cars? :naughty:

Most of the older guys that I fly with started with contol-line aircraft when they were younger. Have a lot of time now, so they like building. They always seem to bring the planes that you can kick back in a chair and fly.
Had one bring a plane out that 3 guys were flying. They were kicked back in chairs and would pass the transmitter back and forth. Thing flew for almost an hour before one of them got up and deadstick landed it.

My dad is 50, 51 in feb and he still runs his every weekend. Its frustrating as hell because he has no morgage and very little bills, so he puts money into his MGT like there is no tomorrow. I can't keep up with that!

I used to be the old man here but IBSD and Revo got me beat. (In that Order) Another old timer that not around anymore is Rolex.
There are several older men and one women that race up here that are in or over their mid 60s..

H-ha! I called you old timers :D
