Hey all, my weedwacker engine's giving me fits.

First of all, its a Craftsmen Briggs and Stratton 2 stroke 32cc engine. My dad doesn't really take care of it so I replaced EVERYthing including: All the fuel lines, fuel filter, fuel tank, air cleaner and I tightened the linkage from the trigger to the engine. I took the thing apart, cleaned it, lubed it a little with 2 stroke oil and put it back together. Runs fine, but if you give it any gas it wants to cut out on you.

Keep in mind this engine has been running for about 3 - 4 years and has always had Premium grade fuel and Vavoline 2 stroke oil(I like to keep my engines top-performance.)

Its just started to do this last week.

did you mess with the carb settings. turn it in a little and if it has not been running for a while get some briggs and stratton fuel treatment to clean it out.

It runs every week because I start it up everyweek if we don't do the lawn. I didn't want to mess with the carb though.

What type of carb? If it is gravity feed, I dunno, but if it has a fuel pump, it might be that part has gone out.

When you had it apart did you also check the plug in it?

Replaced the spark plug too.

Revo, it's gravity feed. I think it's just time to get a new trimmer i guess.

if you do look for a stilh, i bought one and have had it for 6 years and just bought another one last year too. best weedeater i have ever had.

If it's time to get a new trimmer, I don't see any harm in messing with the carb needles.

2-cycle weed wackers typically have 2 needles and an idle adjustment... a lot like our nitro's. Just not quite as sensitive. 1/2 a turn here or there shouldn't hurt. It sounds like it might be too rich on the high needle. I used to work in a small engine shop... I've rebuilt and repaired more small engines than I can count. God... I loved that job. How did I end up being a database analyst?

Yes...I'm used to working on dirtbike engines. I suppose it can't be too diffrent, huh? I'll take it apart tomarrow to get acess to the carb again.

Thanks for all you help so far!
