just bought pro charger and trying to charge the lipo 4000 mah lipo batt. following directions and doing batt check it comes back low batt and do not know what to do next

Your LiPo may have discharged too much and caused it so that it'd be too dangerous to try to charge it. Never discharge your LiPo to under 3v per cell.

hmm its a brand new batt never used

I've never seen the pro charger say that before....make sure you have it on the right settings, 2,3,4s ect...4.0A.....
