Hobao recommends “15-30%” if it’s the stock motor..

Anything but Traxxas fuel, it has too much oil. Too much oil is hard to tune. 8-12% is plenty of oil. I like the sidewinder stuff. I dont race so take it for what its worth.

8-12% sure is enough oil, though the "Optifuel" they use in the UK has even 15% oil and is still alright though unnecessary. Never ran traxxas fuel myself but only ever heard bad things about it.
Don't obviously buy helicopter or plane specific fuel, and use at least 16% nitro though higher gives quite a bit more power in my experience.

That's funny, I once bought airplane fuel by mistake. It was going to cost too much to return through the mail, so I purchased straight methanol in a 1-pint container and mixed it with acceptable results. Doing the math, it put me at about 10-11% oil and I forget the rest of the numbers, but it runs just fine. I want to say the Nitro levels were less than 20%, but the ol' XTM ran like a raped ape.

iv been running Sidewinder off road blend 20% nitro (supposed to be 9% lub) never have issues, nice and consistent and is easy to tune with. and its dirt cheap!

traxxas fuel changes by the batch. iv gotten gallons that were good and iv gotten gallons that sucked. something about the way its being mixed and bottled isn't lending itself to consistency. it's luck of the draw.

That is exactly the blend I like running. If it wasn’t sidewinder, I’d be running the nitropro stuff
