The prices on Hobbywings site right now are the same exact prices I paid for my HW combo's during Black Friday. I highly doubt they'll go cheaper, but I don't buy a lot of HW stuff. Good stuff, but I have been using Castle or Tekin in most of my stuff. The two combos I grabbed on BF were just to test the waters so to speak.

Yeah. You don't want a 6s system in that kit.

i was going to try the max 8 combo 3 to 6s but someone said the Max 10 will work.

Can you suggest a receiver and servo? since this china plastic rig has been giving me nothing but issues i want to get rid of all the stock stuff.

For a servo, if you want cheap, any of the 35kg standard 1/10 servos on Amazon should do fine. You can shell out a lot of money for name brand servos. But I have thrown a few of the cheapo Amazon servos in bashers, and they do just fine.

I missed the 'day after xmas' sale...
I was busy with stupid xmas and stupid family! Jeez, xmas is once a year... R/C is ALL year!!!
Plan on buying a programmer card with you esc. Research to see which will work with the max 10 and with your phone.
They are reasonably cheap and worth the $ for ease of setting changes.

thank you! wicked frog got me all set up. i'Mmordering everything now! my kid is so happy. that 223 is garbage everything is going out electrically. motor was 200 degrees after a 10 minute run earlier

Yeah, I forgot to mention a programming card. They have nicer ones, but this should work.

Ok, if you were using 2s batteries I was going to suggest trying 3s.

Yea the MAX10 will work awesome. I have one in my Slash 4x4 and it rips on just 2S.

Someone on here said the max 10 gets hot. Do you use a fan? What searing do you recommend?

Did they tell you what gears they used when it got hot? Use a tooth or 2 less than they do and you'll have an idea where to start.
If their motor runs hot, they need to drop a tooth too.

If you're not sure on gearing, find out what is stock... buy a few pinions starting with a tooth or 2 above stock and experiment.
Keep checking your motor and esc temps with a heat gun.
160 is about right.
If its warmer, drop a tooth and test again.
If its cooler, you can go up to try and get more speed.
There is no generic gear ratio that works for everyone.
