Looking for shock options for my Rustler 2wd, a seller i use all the time on Ebay recommended LCG UItimate GTR Blue Aluminum Shocks 4 Ti-Ni Shafts that came off a 4x4 Rustler. My question arw they too much shock for the 2wd model?

I use their Big Bore shocks on my 2WD models, but I'm sure the GTR would work just as well.

You can get the Big Bore as a set from Traxxas for about $60

iv got Hot Racing shocks on my "rustler". 100mm on the rear and 90mm on the front. feel pretty damn smooth to me. and they were sub $30 per set.
although they did come overly sprung for my liking so i had to by springs to fine tune.
All my RCs came to me on the cheap and as project builds, never seen how a new set of shocks felt or looked like. All mine seem sluggish, droopy, nonresponsive. I've changed the oil in all of them, didn't notice much of a change if any on the sluggish side. Did find a couple bent rods i replaced. I'm running 30w in the front 40w in the back with mid-range spring adjusted load

in that scenario its always a good idea to clean and thoroughly inspect the shock pistons. they do wear out and require replacing.
springs as well. they have a lifespan and if they're well used they may be weak.
if you have plastic shock bodies they can wear out and not function properly as well. (iv seen those things D shaped internally. which means oil is bypassing the piston and the shock is not functioning properly)
the more neglected the shock the more likely things are to be worn out.

GTRs are probably the best recommend shocks for upgrades. They'll fit the 2wd too. But on the 4wd shocks, for the front shocks of trying to fit them on 2wd front arms the pillow ball might be too large so that's why most people say to take the ball end off the old shock and put it on the new shock, or get new pillow balls but in the smaller ones.

Adding on to the big bore shocks. They are like the stock shocks but slightly different design and all aluminum. One thing I hate about them is that they are a PAIN to rebuild bc of the snap rings on the bottom holding in all of the seals. While the GTRs and ultra shocks use a regular screw cap. Traxxas just makes it harder for some people.

My choice, GTRs or shocks from a race kit ie Losi 22sct 3.0 or sc6.2 shocks.
Used to have Proline shocks on my list but in recent times I heard Proline quality go down hill because of Horizon ruining them over, so PL no go.

I'm not sure on what ones to get, it's not like I'm out on the race circuit or anything, just running up and down .y Street or 4 wheelin in my backyard while my Husky Sasha is chasing it. Lol

there's a retarded chihuahua thing at my house, but he's terrified of a mini z so...
before him was a golden retriever. she was unamused by RC cars. didn't really know what to make of them or what to do with them.
before her was a beagle and he would chase my old nikko's and tyco's in his younger years. in his later years he would lay in the grass where i was running and i would roost him with grass and he didn't care.
moral of the story, chihuahua things are no fun.
