Hey guys, I don't know what I'm doing wrong, but I have a broken front A-arm on a (*I think*) Slash (it was given to me by a friend) and I've ordered two different sets of replacements on Amazon and both have been too small to fit. In the second set I ordered, I got a complete front and back set, and even the back ones, which are significantly bigger than the fronts were smaller than the ones on my Slash. Do I not actually have a Slash? I'm certain it is a Traxxas car, judging by the controller and the power system both having Traxxas branding on them, and I don't know of any other short course trucks that aren't a slash, so I'm pretty sure it is, indeed, a Slash, but man, I'm getting tired of returning parts. Anybody got any ideas? Are there different versions? How do I get the right stuff? Waaaaaaaaaa 😭

Yea like @9x19 said post a pic of the chassis/car itself. Can maybe help us figure stuff out

For the 2wd platform, Slash/Rustler/Stampede share the same length front arms. Slash uses it's own rear arms, and are shorter in length than the Rustler/Stampede rears. Rustler/Stampede share the same rear arms and are longer in length. Bandit arms are same design but are much shorter in length both F/R.

Looking at the picture, the top blue aluminum? arms look like normal 2wd front arms. Bottom rear arm with the shock, looks a bit long so I'm guessing it's a rustler or a pede arm from what @Heisenburg said. Can't be so sure tho.

You can use longer rear arms on your slash, it will just change the stance of it. Ideally would need rustler turnbuckles to accommodate for that extra length and might have to trim the body around the wheel wells. I did it before when I swapped the whole rear end from my rustler to my slash when I smoked the transmission 🤣 the whole 2wd platform is 98 percent of the same parts, just maybe some design and length differences like we see here with the arms.

Thanks for the responses, guys! I'll post a few more pics - hopefully you can decipher them, as I've got the car torn apart on the dining room table, a fact my wife will surely love when she returns :P

OH MY GOSH YOU'RE RIGHT!!! I just took for granted that the guy who gave it to me knew what he was talking about when he told me it was 2WD, and the fact that the front wheels didn't turn. Well, upon closer inspection, notice how the slider sleeve on the front right wheel is missing? So it was trying to turn the front wheels, but it couldn't because there was no link on that wheel, so neither of them could turn. Crazy, major facepalming going on right now!! Thanks for the help!

Oh yea I see now. So basically it was a 3x4 🤔😆
Huge 🤦 to the seller you got it from.

You can get a complete set of driveshafts from Jenny's for 30 bucks.

Or just a singular replacement one.

I'm pretty sure those are the correct ones
Traxxas updated the axles throughout the years. Hard to keep track of. I don't know much about the 4wd platform as I do with the 2wd lol. Maybe someone can chime in.

Yeah, a 3X4 that because of the differential didn't turn either of the front wheels, giving all power to the one "slipping" due to disconnection, so neither of the front wheels ever got power. Does that make sense? Crazy! At any rate, it was my neighbor who gave it to me, and he received it from his dad, and it was old then. I'm sure it was just lost through the ages. Craaazy it's still around! But I'm going to get it back up to awesome 4x4 status! haha thanks to you!

☹️ I bought those exact arms and I did not have a good time. Weren't the right fit so I ended up switching them out for RPM front arms. It appears that's a rear A-arm and not a front. The blue one can work, but it'll shake and create the RC version of death wobble (I know from experience!) Oh wait that's a 4x4 so it's probably different 😬. I'm fluent in yapping about 2wd but know pretty much nothing about the 4x4.

From my personal experience, along with a lot of others(seriously just Google "RPM vs Traxxas HD a arms" and most everyone will say the exact same thing) the Traxxas HD or Extreme Duty arms are better than the Rpms. My Rpm arms always warped/sagged. Sure you can boil them for 5-10 minutes and flatten them but they just warp again. If the Rpms didn't warp I would say get them as they tend to be just as durable as the Traxxas HD arms but the Traxxas arms don't sag. $13 for the entire set from Jennys https://jennysrc.com/collections/slash-4x4-vxl-68386-4/products/fits-slash-4x4-vxl-suspension-a-arms

I've had different experiences with them, I run both actually. Traxxas on the rear and RPM on the front. I like the design and quality of the RPM over the Traxxas. Might also be the fact I vowed to never order a part directly from Traxxas ever again, but that's just me 🤷‍♂️

Were they the HD or the cold weather arms? The cold arms kept splitting right at the hinge pin for me.

I'm running that same setup on my 4x4 and 2wd. The Rpms tend to fair fine in the front but the rears on both would sag. So far I've had the rears on the 4x4 for like 4 years now and the rears on my Rustler for almost 2. I tend to break more shock rod ends or turnbuckles than anything else on either platform.

The rpms? Nope. Not cold weather, and I don't drive it hard enough to need that. Mine might have been hd? can't remember. Theyre beefy though

The Traxxas arms.

What you got running under the hood of that beast?
Oh got ya. My rears were a weird fit but I made them work. They're just the HD ones. Got a VXL 3s paired to a 3500kv motor, tqi radio with telemetry sensors for rpm, temp, and voltage, and I have an Amazon servo from a company called Feetec. Surprisingly good quality for being $20. Metal gearing, good casing, strong motor. First one crapped out after my friend ran over the slash with his surron on accident, but it's all good. Somehow nothing else broke 🤷‍♂️. Hey, I take what I can get.
