I think Traxxas may have a big ole cat in the bag on this one. They didn't let it out, but they let it peep through the cracks. The new Rock Crawler magazine was finally released today, and traxxas owns the back cover with their ad.

Not surprising. Traxxas is good for getting there foot in the door to the hot trends. That's why they sell so many vehicles. Considering the large jump in the quality of their recent releases I'd expect this to be pretty nice.

As Lessen said, the quality of their vehicles has vastly improved recently, and I look forward to seeing what they come out with. The new XTM super is really nice, and really cheap, and I'm really going to get one. I guess that'll be the shelf queen since the super class just isn't happening down here.

oh wow i look forward to seeing this thing, i wonder if it would be a 2.2 or a super?

With the market right now with the 2.2, and the supers fading out of the picture, id say a 2.2, or else it would be a pretty stupid move on their part.

true but i think it would still be cool if it was a super, especially if it was a rtr super, that would bring the supers back.

how much are they running or are they even for sell yet? I've only seen a couple pics of them but they look awesome.

I don't think they have released any pictures yet. This ad is the first information that's been released to the public. It could be a Super. XTM and Kyosho are both releasing new models of super class rigs, so it's a possiblity that traxxas will go that route as well. I'm thinking it's going to be a 2.2 rig though. It will be good for the industry, but a lot of people are going to hit the forums claiming that they're crawling experts because they bought a traxxas RTR lol.

yeah i actually meant the XTM, is it in production yet? price?

It's an ARTR, and the price is $400 i believe. I'm not sure if it's for sale yet, but if it's not, it should be any time, because magazines are reviewing them. I think it's worth every bit of $400 when you look at the parts that have gone into it.

yeah i googled it and checked out some pics of it, it looks very well built...any idea of what size tires it will run? or are all supers using the same size tire? i dont know much about em.

You can run anything, but most people run something like a maxx size or 40 series tire on them. Different people like different sizes, gear ratios, etc... The super rigs have a lot more room to change the setup compared to the 2.2 rigs. some people run a 14 inch wheelbase, while his friend has one with an 18 inch wheelbase, it all varies from person to person.

so if its a artr it just will need electronics? prolly two motors?

Yeap gotta have two motors, ESC, and radio system. I'm not sure if I'm going to build this or my berg first. I just ordered my second motor for my berg build, I will be running two seven turn holmes hobbies puller motors. On the XTM, you can run one or two ESC's. I would run two ESC's so that I could control the front and rear axles seperately, think super dig lol.

I agree with Charlie. I'd put my money on this being a 2.2. Traxxas is a big company lookin for big sales. They want to put their products in as many hands as possible and that means it needs to be affordable, competative, and universal.
