What's up RCT!

I decided I needed yet another project this year; I've decided I want to build a backyard crawler course. Something so I don't always have to pack up and leave if I want to test gear or just blow off some steam for a few.

Mrs Creepy is giving me this back corner of the yard so LET'S GO!

I don't really have a hot clue what I am doing with design so here is what we are starting with.

My workable space here is around 21' x 4'.
I would like to keep it in tighter than 4' and keep it away from the patio stones at the bottom.

I want it to match the esthetic of the backyard so we're going to use black granite and brown pressure treated lumber.

If anyone has any experience and they wish to share any information with me about building a backyard course I am all ears!! 👂

Being inept at this stuff I asked Chat for help.
We worked through a bunch of revisions.

What is that vehicle?!?!

This is just bonkers.
Like, how abstract of you Chat. How are trucks going to float to obstacles?

Try again

And again

Let's go for gold this time

There we go!!! That looks like a good time right there.

So now we have a bit of a plan to follow, something to visualize. Now to figure out where to get rock from and how much I need. 😎

I would be hesitant to attach any obstacles to your fence. Fences are expensive around here.
But the other stuff looks great.
Good call.

Anything I do will not be attached to the fence boards. I'll be building framing in-between the posts to support whatever goes up. That way it could be easily concealed if removed.

I think Mrs Creepy would literally string me up if I damaged the fence to the point where it required repair.

I can't remember exactly what we paid for the fence because it was included in the total for the yard, but I want to say that side was 8k. The last thing I want to do is do any lasting damage 😬

Hmm. When I look this over again, I am wondering how I keep a toddler off?
This is becoming more complicated lol

@Tallbump
I feel that. I ran out of prompts last night so that's where we ended off.

I do find the wood at the crawl center can be very annoying, sometimes there is just zero grip on it.

When I get free processing again I'll ask it to take another crack at it with less wood more rock.

hey this is cool, creepy. I. thought of making one in my basement but I just don't have room. so I turned my was-going-to-be dirt bike course (it is VERY small) into a basher course with jumps and stuff. I also discovered that my NASCAR can make air on the dirt jump that there is 🤣. its cool.

@Muscle_Car_Lover
Thanks! I'm looking forward to getting started in about a week or so.

I would love a basement or garage course too!

At the indoor crawl center I go to they have a 1/30 course on a medium size folding table, I think at some point I want to try and replicate my own version of it.

Jealous of your backyard dirt course. I would love a spot big enough to have my own personal RC park lol. Area for a track with a driver's stand, crawling areas for days, etc etc.

If one of these piece of papers I buy every now and then gifts me the ability, you bet I would jump on that!

I gonna be watching this for ideas on my own backyard stuff. Been picking away at things. Using a more organic approach. Throw some rocks in a pile, drive on it...spread out, move around, add to and adjust as needed. Almost time to add some more...I'm sure there will be some wood features at some point.

It's definitely cool to be able to crawl at home. I have an infinite supply of terrain. Plus I will be trying to knock out a couple of wood and metal features aswell. I have cut a course around half of my property , so you get some trail trucking in between obstacle area's.

@C life

That's so epic! Looks like a great time 🙂

I have a few spots like that around my area, but none that are mine in the sense that it's right on my property.

There's a few sandy spots that are a short drive from my house.

We have some wooded trails close to downtown that used to be really popular. Last I heard it needs a lot of trail maintenance to bring it back.

Then there is always the quarry but that is a good thirty minutes away on a good day.

I still plan on attending those locations (specifically scoping out the downtown one and the quarry) and running there.
Hopefully if the dry weather continues we'll be able to get in the quarry a few weeks from now.

We have a club like 20 minutes away that hosts comps once a month aswell. Which is cool. The guy has a pretty elaborate set up in his back yard. I will snap some Pics at our season opener. We also have a really nice state park 5 min up the road which has a ton of hiking trails and a beautiful beach. Which is nice we bring the proboat once in awhile. But monster trucking when we have the beach to ourselves is my favorite.

That's lows of 30f for my Southern friends.

Dude I absolutely love your monster trucks!

Excited to see the course!
There is a backyard one just down the road from the indoor center, that guys backyard is massive and roughly half of it is dedicated to a layout.

Thank you sir, they are my favorite for sure. Keep us updated on your progress. I always like seeing people build stuff.

this makes me want to move there and crawl with a mini sized crawler that i don't have

gonna follow to see how you're executing the idea

Maybe I'll do rentals? 😉

Love the AI plans. That's going to be a fun project. Can't wait to see it come to life!

Thanks!
I'll be doing another rendering when I get more processing ability either later today or tomorrow.

After looking it over again and again (add in feedback here) it would be nice if layer two (middle section) was also rock. I don't think there is a need for two wooden bridge sections, plus that's a lot of lumber!
