After looking it over again and again (add in feedback here) it would be nice if layer two (middle section) was also rock. I don't think there is a need for two wooden bridge sections, plus that's a lot of lumber!
Couldn't agree more with that idea. Also, lumber usually provides a single line choice. Rock is much more maleable in terms of line creation.

Well after coaching Chat a few more times we got something out of it that seems to be more inline with what I was picturing.
However, somewhere between the last one and this one the rocks all gained some kind of flecks? Chat is an interesting tool, that's for sure!

Here the one right before where I kept having to instruct it to remove wood details in line two.

It kept showing wood platforms in line two details over and over.

What do we think of the top rendering?

I think that looks awesome, if only I could say, "Chat, build that thing!" Lol

I say get yourself a good pile of rocks and just let them organically flow where they want, then you can fine tune them to your taste/needs. Too much planning, sometimes deprives you of some cool layouts, you might not have thought about. Let nature do it's thing.

Got to agree to a point with Mr Doom. When I just recently built my little 24th crawler course, my only real plan was the size of the base. Had me a hunk of cool foam and just started at it with my sawzall and hand saw. It just took shape on its own, and was a blast doing it.

Don't get too locked in to a plan, cause I guarantee it will change 7 or 8 times as you start...or 12 to 14 times....or... well, you get the idea 🤣

Definitely looking sweet on paper though!

My mini course started as a 2' strip of river rock on the north side of the house where grass would never grow. Always pitched bigger rocks there from the driveway too. When the driveway was graded for concrete I pitched more and bigger rocks there.
Wife decided we should get rid of them and try planting grass again.
I bought an SCX-24 instead.
That was 5 years ago!
They're still there.

Is it done yet? lol.

LOL

Winter just does not want to let go here. It was snow-raining all day today.
Yesterday I had a running joke that was killing me. I started out by saying "we're having our seventh winter" than later, "we're having our ninth winter." By the end of the day I said "..eighteenth winter" LOL

But today just... blerggg. No motivation at all.

In other words, carry the rocks into your yard. When they start getting too heavy, drop them. That's 'organic flow'. 🤣

I think some wood, some rock will create a fun looking course. I own zero crawlers tho so I'm really just watching to see how this goes, how it evolves, what does and doesn't work.

Its a fun way to landscape for sure!

I am trying to convince my wife to let me do some "landscaping" this year 🤣

If you sneak in 1 rock at a time, she may never know! ;) 🤣
Well, good news, bad news. She does the mowing. It's really a mixed blessing 🤣 🤣

I work full-time, she's a stay at home mom. She likes the mowing for the steps and for personal time, as the kids leave her alone while she's doing it LOL

I can attest to that.
I stayed home with my guy for a year+ until he was old enough to start school. Doing the yard work while they nap or someone else is watching them is so satisfying.

I think the nature recharges you along with feeling accomplished.

Snowed again last night so I will not be working outside. It's such a bummer because I want to do the yard clean up but it keeps getting "moisture" will say.

I need to do some research into rock/rock delivery, maybe I'll do that?

You could build a 'mower course' in the back yard to help improve dexterity and balance. 🤔

Mowers can be tricky! Best to get lots of practice! ;):thumbs-up:

Before you even ask... YES!!! It IS important to be able to cross a rope bridge with a push mower!
