So, I wanted an inexpensive way to travel with my Axial SCX24 (only have one at the time). I have seen some fairly nice backpacks but they were over my budget.
Then I thought about the tool bags (basically soft tool boxes) and went to Home Depot couldn't find anything that I really liked, for the price.

THen, it hit me. A 50 cal ammo can. Quick trip to Harbor Freight and $10 later....

Works great, plenty of room. Yes, something with foam would be nice, but that adds a lot of costs.

Could you get the foam someplace?

I have never seen "cheap" foam. Maybe i haven't looked hard enough, or maybe what I consider cheap and what others do are completely different things

I bought a piece of foam at walmart for maybe $14? its about 2'x2', but 2" thick. If you want "cheap", use the foam that comes in the box when you buy a battery. Thats about as cheap as you are going to get.

As others have mentioned, I usually use packing foam to make obstacles. I have two that are about halfway done (built but don;t have final coats or paint) and one in the design/gathering materials stage

But I think I will start checking incoming packages to try to get some pack foam
