I purchased this car second hand (duratrax street force gp ) And have had it long enough to have run thru a container of fuel and a set of tires. I had problems starting the car the other day. then the wheels started to turn when I was trying to pull start the car by the cord? What did I break now?
I also had a problem before this happened - an old problem I had with this car was after starting the car sometimes you would have to stand on the gas to get it to move after it got moving good in uasually didnt have the start off struggle.
Thank you,

Sounds like your clutch spring and maybe clutch shoes are worn out. You should have a 2 shoe clutch system with a wrap around spring....they wear out over time. When this happens it takes nothing for them to spread out and start turning everything. $3 part for the spring....clutch shoes.....about $8-10. You will have to pull the engine off and the bell gear to get to it....nice afternoon project. Check Duratrax.com for the instruction manual to help you out if you need it. Good luck!

I agree, it definately sounds like a clutch problem. It's sounds like the clutch is already sitting against the bell as you are trying to start it, most likely meaning a bad spring.

Although the clutch is the likely culprit, I'd check the bearings in the clutch bell; they could be seized up. Duratrax bearings are not the best in the world... For a good replacement, I'd recommend looking up the size in the owners manual (it should have an exploded diagram), then contacting FastEddy; he sells great bearings at excellent prices.

I'm surprised no one suggested that you have a clutch problem. From the sound of it new shoes and springs and clutch bell bearings should do the trick :green-grin:

Thank you all for your response, I am going to disassemble the car here in a few and see what I come up with. I do have my original manual and parts list and I will be sure to check out duramax.com. Well I'll see what I find and come back and post.
Thanks again,
