i have removed roto starts from other nitro engines with out a problem but i haven't removed this type that's on this 28 and i have removed the 4 bolts the problem is it partially pulls away then get stuck and i tried it with the piston at BDC but the back plate still gets stuck i don't want to force it off and there is a method to remove it correctly but there is nothing in the manual.

I believe that you would want the piston to be near TDC, not BDC.
Some backplates have cutouts on top of them to make clearance for the bottom of the skirt when the piston is at BDC.
If you're at BDC, the piston skirt in that groove in the backplate is probably the hang-up.

O.S engines recommend for a standard back plate to have piston at BDC for removal but obviously this is not a O.S
It did come off as it just needed a bit more force and it's best not to turn the back plate when removing it..i kept it straight then it pulled out.
