I've been reading the sticky on nitro tuning, and I'm wondering exactly what the "throttle trim" is for on the remote. I thought this was the brake adjustment, I'm seeing now it's not just for brakes. What exactly is it for? Thanks.

I have no idea what you just said, sorry! I'm way out of the loop on all this stuff. I know that if its all the way down to 0, it stops a lot quicker, and that's where I leave it. Should I turn it to neutral when starting?? Thanks.

I use mine when starting, and i leave it turned up a tad until it warms up a bit.

Ok, cool. Will do. Think this could be my problem on why it likes to take awhile to start up when its cold?? Since its all the way down, could this create a problem when its cold? Sorry for all the questions, when I played with electric vehicles, I didn't have all this technology in my RC days many moons ago. Thanks.

Turn the trim up a bit. Watch for the carb to open slightly. Once it warms up and starts idling faster, turn it back down. Once warm, if it still won't idle with the trim in the correct place, turn the idle screw up a little at a time until it idles good.

If the engine is "Brrrp" ing and sounds like it wants to start, but just won't. Give it a few notchs of trim up on the throttle until I Brrrrp's longer or starts.

You'll notice that real cars generally idle 500 to 1000 RPM higher when started from cold. Thats the engine management system doing the throttle trim for you :)

I've seen a lot of newer guys "pump" the throttle with the remote, put the remote down, then try to start. Like it's a carburetor 1:1 auto with an auxiliary pump. These don't have that. So pumping it when not running really does nothing. They also don't have a "choke". So you can't cause fuel to pour into the carb via vacuum like a 1:1.

What you do with these is cover the stinger of the exhaust with your finger, and pull the starter until you see the fuel push through the lines and reach the carb (known as "priming the carb"). Then adjust your idle as noted in the previous posts, put the heater on the glowplug for 4-5 seconds to get it good and hot, then quickly rip the cord a couple times. Should fire up right away.

Just be careful to not over prime the carb and flood it. Once you see fuel reach the carb, you should be good to go.

When properly tuned, it should fire up within a couple pulls.
