This is why you don't buy Traxxas...

I am wondering do horizons hobby employees have Christmas bonus and how much.

I think this guy didn't realize that here we live in capitalist economy, not socialist. I would be surprised if any company gives 13th salary, or one month paid vacation leave, 10 days free hotel resort, or up to 1 year of paid maternity leave, or even 2 weeks paternity leave. I am pretty sure no company will give free house for employees who live in poverty.

I mean I work for a company that has multiple multi-million dollar contracts with the government and we typically get a $50 Amazon gift card so cry me a freakin' river that you only got a $500 bonus lol

I think this is the answer...

Back in the day Traxxas was good stuff, today I only use two servo's 2057 and 2075 metal gear.
The hobby went down hill when all you can get is rtr now.
Sure there is a few kits but 800 bucks for a chassis is crazy.
Same in the boat world.
Proboat sells junk. A manufacture Zipp Kits started importing cheap Chinese hardware. Yes he did it to make rc boating affordable to all and his boat kits and hardware are top contenders that is if you like buying rudders every week. That's great but the downside is it also put the hardware manufacturers that sold strong hardware out of business too. One of the reasons I left nitro boats.
Evilbay is full of cheap Chinese stuff too.
Very saddened by the way the nitro hobby has gone over the past 20 years.

There are actually quite a few kits for much less than $800. A lot of the Kyosho cars and trucks come in kit form. Traxxas even has a lot of kits for reasonable prices. Same with Associated and Losi. And why did you create a 2nd account?

1st what would be your flagship brand on toughness rating out the box ?

Also if you had to snip your id connectors on your traxxas esc what would be your fav type of connector ?

I’m tempted to buy an traxxas widemaxx but also considering an Arrma VORTEKS 3S BLX

Personally I dont think that theres one overall brand thats tougher out of the box across the board. There are occasionally particular kits like the Savage or the MT410 that seems to be tough as nails out of the box but not a single brand as a whole. I believe most kits are designed with some weaknesses on purpose in order to promote parts sales, especially for after market parts. Maybe thats a cynical way of thinking but thats what I personally think.

I use Deans on everything up to 1/5 scale at which point I switch to EC5s. I wish Deans made an XL sized plug but they dont so I've been using EC5s for large scale.

Either of those would be good kits. The MAXX is more expensive but its also bigger and 4S instead of 3S compared to the Vorteks. Personally Id look at the Traxxas E-REVO or the Arrma Kraton 6S but I prefer the 1/8 scale 6S rigs.

The Widemaxx and Vorteks are both decent kits from what I have seen. RCDriver on Youtube did one of the first teviews on the Vorteks, and bashed it pretty hard.

For connrctors I only use XT60 on my 2s stuff and EC5 on everything else. I do have Deans on a few kits but will eventually phase those out because I simply cannot stand unplugging them. They have no good way to grip them.

Lost log in info.
Yeah, when I mentioned 800 that was for race quality Serpent on road nitro kit or the like.
I did find one kit for 400, a rear wheel nitro pan car, Mattera Models M1 in USA Similar to the old rc 250 club racers. Saving for one now.
I like the simple non suspension, suspension and sealed tank. Just a simple, light car.
My passion is long oval high speed.

Traxxas's "race bred" kits, back in the day, were phenomenal IMO. They included top of the line components, like awesome great hard coated aluminum shocks, and graphite chassis. Traxxas's "kits" of today are kinda not really a kit. Only one of their four ready to assemble offerings is a true kit... the TRX-4 Sport Unassembled Kit. All the other Traxxas ready to assemble "kits" come with Traxxas components in the box i.e., radio, receiver, ESC, and motor 🤷‍♂️. I want to be in control of what electronics I put in my RCs. If Traxxas would offer kits like they used to, I'd be more persuaded to buy another one of their offerings. I applaud them going forward with hex hardware... small steps I guess. ;)

The above is only one reason why I don't have any of "The fastest name in radio control" platforms.

I wish all the companies would make kit versions of whatever RTRs they have. It seems to me if you're making the parts anyway it wouldnt be hard to offer both RTR and a kit versions. At least of your more popular kits anyway. 🤷‍♂️

That's a very interesting read. I knew of Traxxas doing a bunch of shady chit, but I didn't know it was to that level.

And it is an absolute shame what happened to HPI. I can't tell you how many of their kits I have drooled over, only for them to disappear before I ever had the chance to buy one. My brother got a Vorza during HPI's peak, and it is a tank. I saw him wreck it numerous times, only to shrug it off and keep right on going.

I really hope they manage to make a huge comeback soon.

If I like something I will buy it, I don't care who makes it. Life's to short to worry about what he did or she did. Almost everything we buy comes from China, boycott them and see how far you get in this hobby. leave the drama for TMZ, Just have fun.

Thats how big companies work. Biggest reason i have yet to buy a traxxas is there pricing. But maybe there is a reason, bought a big rock over the maxx. But the more i have to fix the stupid arrma 3s design flaws the more i wish i bought a maxx
