Traxxas's "race bred" kits, back in the day, were phenomenal IMO. They included top of the line components, like awesome great hard coated aluminum shocks, and graphite chassis. Traxxas's "kits" of today are kinda not really a kit. Only one of their four ready to assemble offerings is a true kit... the TRX-4 Sport Unassembled Kit. All the other Traxxas ready to assemble "kits" come with Traxxas components in the box i.e., radio, receiver, ESC, and motor

. I want to be in control of what electronics I put in my RCs. If Traxxas would offer kits like they used to, I'd be more persuaded to buy another one of their offerings. I applaud them going forward with hex hardware... small steps I guess.
