Love some Walnut. I made a cutting board like that years ago but it was checkerboarded with Walnut/Hard Maple. Looks great! Did you manage to alternate the grain direction without getting one 90° out? I glued up a big butcher block, 24"x24"x12" thick. Got it all clamped and noticed one block buried almost in the center that was the wrong direction. I had to tear it all down to that block just to rotate it

I made a similar cutting board myself. Mostly walnut, with some maple and cherry squares as accents. I need to do it again.
