Finished with walnut oil

I'm pretty good with them! I grew up using them quite frequently. My dad spent some time in Japan. I grew up eating the food.
I wish I could use them, just to try it long enough to understand why a culture would come up with chopsticks to eat their food, when they eat rice with every meal. That's like trying to eat spaghetti with a straw 😝

But it's too late for that. As I am getting older, it seems I am reverting back to my toddler years when it comes to eating utensils. I eat everything with a spoon 🤣

Just finished this one.

Walnut and spalted maple. The maple was a piece I saved from the fireplace. I wish I saw the rest of the pieces, only found a couple. The walnut was just some leftover scrap in my shop. I want to do the same wood but end grain butcher block style

I have a cutting board made with end grain cuts of maple and walnut. Built completely from wood scraps in my dad's shop. He has a matching board. It was a fun little project. I have some more scraps sitting in my garage, waiting to do the same project for a gift.

I am by no means a CarPainter or a Wood Butcher, but I started a small project recently.

We have a bunch of toy bins, some fabric, some wicker; after three years they're all nasty.

I decided I didn't want ones that fell apart or attracted animal hair so I picked up some simple pine boxes from HD along with sand paper and stain.

I started sanding one on Thursday evening and I completely understand the enjoyment for it. Taking that rough splintery thing and making it buttery smooth was sooooo satisfying!

That's awesome. Learn as much as you can from older generations.....the good stuff is getting lost. I'm gonna track some more of the spalted maple down. I really love that look. I already have a bunch of sugar maple and walnut coming.

Love your cart. That's a back saver :thumbs-up:

I try to spend as much time as I can working in the wood shop with my dad. His hands sometime hurt too much to do a lot anymore. The real question I face is whether or not I want his shop!

It is absolutely a back saver!!!

Over the years I have often worked alone so I required lifting devices for equipment and stuff.
It just so happens I can bring some of those things home every now and then 😉

I haven't done any woodworking or anything else for that matter since I became sick. :(

Nothing like a feeling of accomplisment from working in the garage all day and NOT loosing a finger.

I know it's tough, I've been there and there are still days I want to stay in bed. But you need to keep doing "it" or you won't anything.

In my position, it's imposable.
