Anyone able to understand or explain the engine requirements?

According to the FB post, these required a short crankshaft engine with side exhaust, is any such thing available on the market today or will we have to cut the shaft to fit? They haven't been really clear on what is required.

With the way it's made, a long, short or pilot crank would likely work with side or rear exhaust and rotary carb. It's not like there would be interference with anything. Would just require proper spacers and shimming and header.

The white parts looks kind of weird... I wonder if RPM will still offer towers/arms to fit the thing.

Takes me back to my first "hobby grade" RC and making the wrong decision standing in the store over 20 years ago. I ended up with the losi xxx-nt rtr because of the transmitter. Only to find out that RPM made nothing for it but a bumper (2 years later after finding online stores and forums). I went through sooooo many arms and shock towers on that thing. I literally had 5 sets of both on hand at all times as I wouldn't make it through more than a few tanks without hitting something and breaking at least one of them. NOT A GREAT FIRST TIME BASHER TRUCK! lol!
 
I don't remember how much the og rc10gt was , but i know when they came out with the blue chassis one ..... it was like 299 RTR if i remember correctly ..... so this one at 399 with no motor seems a bit much to me .... I mean i like the history and the vintage of it...... but not at that price ... ill pass ! lol

yeah, the chassis of the RTR was different as well. the original tub chassis truck was prone to bending at the back of the chassis (forward of the toe blocks) the RTR chassis (which did became the standard chassis) all but fixed that issue. so the cheaper RTR is arguably better than the rerelease.

Makes sense, I looked in the instruction manual also and it doesn't say anything about specs either (https://img2.associatedelectrics.co...ssic/RC10GT_Vintage_Manua_2024_12_16_2024.pdf).

It'd be nice to get clarification from them, though, because the OG model required a short crankshaft and came with a video showing how to cut longer ones to the proper size. There's a lot of discussion about it on the FB page announcement of the re-release, but it isn't clear from them. I emailed to ask, just to be sure, it's a little on the costly side to risk it and have issues finding an engine.
 
i don't need one, i already have an original. and it's 99% finished. I'm in it for the parts support.

OS/SG shaft engines should fit short-shaft applications, the issue is that long-shaft arrangements have a prop-drive style washer behind the flywheel. On short & SG shaft, the flywheel sits right against the crankcase, so they should be interchangeable...

As for short-crank side exhaust, the Force .15 comes to mind, though force recently announced their closure...

The VX-18 wouldn't easily convert to short shaft to well because it uses a keyed prop drive, but the SH-18 uses a colletted washer that could be replaced with a flywheel.

There's a "Go .18" engine out there with a side exhaust and an SG shaft.
