I have a Tech 2. They are easy to find.
You can buy one on fleabay.
Betcha 2 hours of diagnistic work at the dealer cost close to the same as a tech 2 clone.

Why don't you just jump the pins and count the lights?

You are gonna pay thru the nose to get a code pulled that you can do in your driveway. 🤷‍♀️

It kills me to consider a 1995 "classic", but I guess at 30 years it is now...
Just got home from a few hours in the 53 year old Chevelle!
I only put it in this thread as its basically the only thread about 1:1 cars

I've tried the paper clip method which is jumping the pins, and mine doesn't do it

My '94 Yota has Collector plates . It does seem silly, but it meets the "classic" criteria ☺️

You are positive the check eng light works, right?

I wish I could see the damm truck!!! 🤣

Tech 2's aren't hard to find... I would buy one of these before bringing it to a shop.

Tech 2's are outdated also. Like the computers they work with, the serial port and I think there is something else that makes them 'non modern computer friendly' 🤷‍♀️

You should get ypur codes tho. 😎

Ill send all the pics when I get home. My check engine light turns on at start up, and stays on

You're pretty young, I think it's great to see you digging in and learning like us old farts did - hands on!
I've always had a knack for anything mechanical. I want to do it for work.

Understand that most vehicles you'd be working on now days aren't fun at all anymore.
I spend most my days 🤦 at the level of stupid all these manufacturers have resorted to.
And the idiots just keep buying them.

So, here's Part 2 of my Classic Car collection.

You know what's sad? This little '95 Honda Civic VX now falls into the category of Antique car. Yep - it's 30 years old. I bought it in 2004 with a blown engine for $800, had it running and back on the road for another $700, bought some rims & tires, had the windows tinted, swapped-in some Acura Integra seats, drove it like I stole it for 4 years getting 39mpg, and made $1000 when I sold it for $3500.

It was a fun car, but lost all of it's cool factor when I found this on Craigslist.

1971 Mach 1 w/351C-2V. Sorry little Honda - you're just not that cool to me anymore. I still wish I would've kept it, though. Oh well.

The interior was just as bad as the rest, the engine was seized, transmission flogged, brakes rusted in-place, no keys, no title, and the tires barely held air. I asked my buddy, a 45-yr master mechanic what I should start with, and he said, "A tetanus shot."

4 years later, a new front clip, 60% sheet metal replaced, $45K in parts, 3 years worth of weekends, and all sorts of razzing and hate over that time, and here we are.

I did WAY too much stuff to it to list here - suffice it to say, every single nut & bolt was touched, cleaned and/or replaced.

Oh yeah.. and it's WAY cooler than that little Honda.

Great work! On the Mach 1

I've got a 2014 Ford Escape SE, the one with either a 2L or a 2.5L inline four, and a decent factory-standard Ecoboost turbo. Removed the stupid turbo silencer that they put on them, now you can actually hear it. It's not great for quick acceleration, because it's FWD, and tends to have enough power to get iffy on traction if you're not careful.
