The chances of destroying a high dollar aluminum wheel hex with a 35 cent steel nut is pretty high.. And if it didn’t tear up the aluminum threads, it wouldn’t stay on long anyway not being serrated..
fair enough I placing an amain order for it and some other screws

i’m honestly trying to think if I need anything else before I order lmao also if this happened in a thursday i’d totally be trying to pick up from absolute hobbyz
You haven't asked, but I think this might help you since this was your first kit build. I worked as a machinist for 25+ years, so I have a ton of experience with hand tools and fasteners.

It's good to at least stock up on 3mm screws. You don't need to order those from a hobby shop, as they will charge you 10x more than just buying them in bulk on ebay or Amazon. But you gotta watch who you buy from. I have found two sellers on ebay that sell pretty decent fasteners:

This used to be regan001, but they changed their name. Decent hardware, and good prices.

I have bought from these guys too, and they have good stuff.

On Amazon I buy from iexcell. I haven't bought much from them, but what I have bought has been fine.

Keep in mind, none of these are Fastenal or McMaster quality fasteners, but they are also not priced as such. I find the above brands to be acceptable, and as long as you have quality tools, you won't have any trouble with them. Never use stainless hardware on an RC if you can help it.

If you want some really high quality hex tools, check out MIP. Buy once, cry once. If you buy nice tools, every time you pick them up and work on your RC, you will be very glad you bought them.

As @WickedFog said-MIP alllllll day. For hardware, I’ve used the 12.9 stuff from Tony for over 20yrs on every single one of my kits..

Couple bucks for a (20) pack, and he’s a good dude. Also in Jersey fwiw, and ships out QUICK.

This link is just for example.. Navigate around his site as you see fit..

I’ve done business with McMastercarr, Fastenal, and Grainger for years as well, but quality RC hardware just make more sense from Tony’s Screws to me personally. Again-these are grade 12.9. You’d be hard pressed to beat the quality/price anywhere else.

Wow-I just checked out the above links, and m3x12mm shcs are 3x cheaper from Tony’s.. And he’s close to you.. Either way-found you some options that are reasonably priced, in stock, and close by as far as wheel nuts, and hardware between www.AbsoluteHobbyz.com & www.Tonysscrews.com . Good luck! 🍻🤙

Very cool. I actually have a resupply list of screws I need and had put an order together from my ebay link above. Tony's is going to be a lot cheaper.

Right on man-glad to be able to help more than just one person. That’s what forums are for! 🤙
