Had a rough start to racing my tekno. Fixed her up and raced with a cracked front bulkhead. This happened between 1st and 2nd q. I think I had 4wd for most of the 2nd but by main I was RWD only.

Congrats! This is the first broken Tekno I've ever seen! 🤣

I've seen quite a few reports of the bulkheads failing over the years. Grab a picture, or two, of the bulkhead off the chassis and send it off to Tekno for them to have on file. I'm always curious as to where these fail/crack. I'm guessing the forces of the body impacting objects trickles down to these bulkheads weak spot. I've not personally had one 410 platform fail in that area yet. My ET410 (circa 2019) has most of its original parts on it including the composite shock caps. It being such a durable RC was the biggest reason for me picking up more 410 platforms. But, the same shock caps are used on the SCT410SL and I had one cap "blow" early on.

Thanks for the clear picture. Any good story to go with it? :D :thumbs-up:
Not really. I was trying to break in some tires and hit a greasy spot and slid into the wall. The bulkhead wasn't as destroyed at that point. I figured I might as well see if it was tough enough to finish. I qualified 5th or 6th so I was happy with the performance. Switched to some tires that were broken in for the mains.

"... the wall." That's enough of the story for me to understand better. ;)

Second race day:

Good first qualifier until it started handling really weird. Pulled off track and lost rwd. My friend quickly said grub screw. He was right, I don't think I had enough loctite on the screw holding the rear drive cup on the pinion. Quick fix.

Second qualifier finished 1st but slower than the tq of 1st round so starting main jn 2nd.

Main is going really well 5-6 laps in having a good clean battle for 1st trading the lead a few times. Then I clipped a pipe and front ball cup came out. This is the same side that took the hit previously so I might need to replace that cup. Marshall tossed me the truck and I got it back on the track but lost a minute and a half.

Sounds like good racing! Glad you picked it up at the end! DNF are the worst losses!!!
Def add drive cups to the pre-race inspect list and hit it harder next week!!!
Great job!!! 👍

I'm sure most would agree, once a rod end/ball cup pops off, replace it... piece of mind... well, especially when battling others is concerned. I never really had any trouble with Tekno's rod ends. I don't remember if was mentioned in this thread, or not, but people like to use the Associated B6 rod ends as a better alternative.
