Hi! Its my first post in a while... be nice! Lol!
I have a few old uncut lexan bodies made of unobtanium. I have been reluctant to use them due to their rarety. I don't want to just bash them at the track or driveway.
I had been trying to fit a body to a kit and found that the "Parma Stinger for Hornet" body that fits oh so nicely isn't on ebay, nor was I able to find in online shops.
I came across Team Blue Groove and I thought "WOW!!!! Maybe these guys could help me out???"
It seems that Team Blue Groove will make a repop of a classic lexan body... provided its not cut or painted.
My old Stinger body came painted green and silver, right from Parma but I figured no harm in asking so... I fired out an email and Jon got back to me.
Team Blue Groove has a pretty huge collection of bodies. The site has me drooling like I was when I was a kid... looking at all the AWESOME bodies that would CLEARLY lead me to pole position in the A-main EVERY TIME! Lol!
So here's the thing... I want to donate a few old classic bodies to these guys. This would make them availible for everyone in the future. It will also provide me with access to the bodies that I didn't have the heart to cut up, and cut the hell out of them, guilt free!!! Lol!
The ONLY catch I see is that the original body will not survive the remake process. I can have it back but it will not be usable.
What does everyone think?
Should I be the only kid in Maine with an MRP Funco Shorty '82' body?
Does anyone else have experience donating a body for something like this?
Does anyone have Team Blue Groove bodies that they love or hate?

I say go for it man. I don't have a need for any of those, but I am sure a lot of people would love to see some bodies brought back from the dead. I love their site as well and plan to order a few bodies from them. @Greywolf74 is actually ordering a few 24th scale bodies from them. Maybe he can chime in when he gets them.

I once let a company borrow a rifle I owned, so they could take measurements for "accessories" they were going to offer. Non-destructive and I got the rifle back a few months later, if you don't have a need for the bodies, I'd say go for it.

I would do it. I would think that BG would give you one of the remakes for donating the body. In fact Id contact them and tell them thats a stipulation. Worst case scenario you just buy one of the remakes.

I can and I will.

Their donation program already stipulates copies of the body donated or a different body of my choosing as well as a discount on a future purchase.
The details all look good to me.
I guess I am just hoping for someone to tell me a good story about how they did this...
I am thinking I am going to move ahead with this.
I really like the idea that other ppl will be able to purchase these again too.
I need to get my email to actually forward the pics of the bodies.
I have a few wings as well, gear covers?
I have a bit of a museum going here! Lol!
Thanks for the input!
I'll post and update of course!

Here are the bodies I got from them. They look and feel just like you'd expect them to. Very nice little bodies. They even sent me a free one! My only complaint is they dont come with any sort of decals. Not even window masks but I can live with that.

That's great news! I'm glad to hear you are happy with the quality!
Those bodies look good (in the bags at least)!
I am going to go ahead with shipping these bodies for re-pop. I think they will do a good job.
Trish told me about MCI. A sister company sort of. They reproduce decals including masks of the bodies that TBG sells. I may have an old Parma and Autographix to donate to them as well.
It will be a while before I have my bodies, masks etc but I am already excited!!!

That's awesome about the window masks. Let us know how the reverse engineering goes.

Maybe I should look into doing this with my uncut rustler Desert Rat body, with old style stadium truck bodies were more common.

The guy that is MCI is a good dude. You can holla at him on messenger and he'll work with ya on custom decals. Lot's of guys use him to recreate vintage decals.

I would recommend emailing TBG if you are serious about that body.
They might just have a need for it!
I am personally enjoying this process and dealing with TBG.
I LOVE that they are working to preserve one of my personal favorite parts about R/C, the bodies!!!
I am happier still that I get to contribute to that collection so other ppl can fall in love with "THAT, gotta have it body" too!
I will keep updating as we progress.
I am still working on figuring/finding a box of stuff they want and can use.
Once I'm convinced I have my stuff packaged, off it goes and the process starts!!!
It looks like MCI will be getting a couple sets of stickers to remake as well so yay!!!

Reviving an old thread here...
The bodies and other goodies finally headed to the Great White North today!!!

I hope to get some pics of this process to post. I'm pretty happy to get this underway!!!!
I have another Mid chassis waiting on belt guards to be made and returned for the old JG LWB chassis.
I'm really excited about this!!! 😁🤩👍
Mrs Certified is excited to get her laundry table back. And the kitchen table back. And the kitchen back. And... 🙄🤣

It's pretty cool that they are doing this.
I have so many more pics! They did EXACTLY what I'd hoped by saving these bodies for ALL you knuckleheads to crack up instead of me having the last ones in existence and being afraid to ever paint them and mess them up! 😲
Theres ever a salamander Funco body in there for @Xraycer to put on his shelf now too. 🤣
I think it said from '82 on the body!!! 😎
It might not be for everyone but for ANYONE who has a legit JG extended wheel base chassis but can't find a right fitting belt guard...
THEY ROCKED THAT TOO! 😍❤️😎👍

I LOVE the Bug body!!!!

I DEF trusted the right ppl for the job! 😎
They are super nice ppl and WOW!!! Am I impressed!!!! 👀❤️

I asked if they would consider doing a short course truck body as I have a (new) very popular body that people still are searching for. Apparently short course truck bodies are too big for their equipment. 😞

I had some of this lexan for decades. Maybe package a body up and wait for the equipment to get bigger.👍
I saw the vacuum sealed box that is used. Thats a limiting factor. Maybe how they heat the molds is also.
Its cool that you have a 'keeper' body like that! 😎
Looking back at so many I always wished I had, I'm sad I didn't have more tucked away.
I always bought a body, hacked it up, sprayed it and crashed it! 🤣
Not many stayed 'new'. 😉

this was prertty cool to catch up on, can't wait to see the finished product

I'll post more soon. 😎
I can't wait to see these things all finished in my hands! Seeing this process happen has been really cool!!! Its sort of unreal seeing all this happening to bodies that have been collecting dust in a corner for so long!
These guys are AWESOME!!! 😍
