I hear much about the 60Amp hobbywing ESC causing the Pro4 motor to run hot. Some internet vid gurus said an upgraded (higher Amp) ESC would cool the motor down. Thoughts? . If true, which would be a good ESC upgrade??

I mean if the esc is getting hot the esc is too low of a amp rating. Stock is a 3300kv and in a 4wd on 60a yea I can see it getting hot.
You can gear down, add heatsink/fan on the motor, and/or upgrade the esc.
HW 10BL120 G2 WP pairs well with any 1/10 motor imo.

Me personally I run a 10BL120 G2 SD on a discontinued HW 3656 4000kv sensored motor. Stock gearing. 2s, fan on the motor and esc. Stays cool for days.

Honestly if you think about picking up a quickrun esc id just get the 3660 motor combo along with it so you have a good motor. Reedy is known to copy hobbywing electronics and make them poorer quality, at least for RTR electronics. Their comp/race electronics are pretty good tbh.

Was watching the vid on this ESC and it went into all this tuning and adjustment....can I just set up the 3 basic positions (neut, full and brake) and run it??

Yep that's it. Just recalibrate the esc to your transmitter and you'll be good to go. Box stock esc setups are pretty good from my experience. Really don't need to change anything like punch brake LVC ect

I can guarantee you if I were to use a 200 amp ESC on the Team Associated Pro4 SC10 and the stock motor, I could easily get the motor to heat up. A speed control will not be the root cause of a motor overheating.

Would it not lower the temp??. I am also going to put a double fan on the motor. In stock trim, they can hit 200° if driven hard...so they say.

If wanting a no nonsense sensorless speed control... a Hobbywing QUICRUN WP 10BL120 G2 gets my vote every time for a 4wd SCT. The MEMORIAL code didn't work for me though. Amain Hobbies has Hobbywing coupon code expiring the 26th. Heck, I second DavidB1126's motion to just get one of the darn ESC/3660 motor combos and be done with it.... longer can/more magnet area ;) 😁

If wanting something sensored... look to Hobbywing's EZRun lineup.

That's the thing with of the RTR speed controls... little to very little adjustability. Even though Hobbywing is the OEM for a crap ton of RTR speed controls out there, they make 'em as cheap as possible for keeping the platforms from Associated, Redcat Racing, HPI, Hobao, blah, blah, blah... keeps them RTR package deals inviting. The same thing goes for radios and servos that get put into RTR platforms... just enough to get things up and running... just enough to keep people happy... most of the time. Some companies will skimp more on the radio but give you an updated/stronger servo. Some companies will just skimp on everything. It all depends on popularity of the platform as to what parts get swapped out for keeping profit margins where companies want to be at.
