Looking at ordering a set of these and they say they are bead lock wheels, but I am only familiar with the ones I have on some of my UDRs where there is an inner and outer locking rings. These only seem to have an outer locking ring.

Would that mean the inside would need to be glued, and how well will rubber glue to metal?
Same glue as used on plastic rims?

Looks like it has an inner and outer lock. The silver pieces are the locks. The black is in the center. I think glued tires offer better performance. Much less weight.
Thanks.
Ok, so your thought is the front bolts would sandwich in not only the front bead but the backside bead as well between the silver lip and black part on the inner bead?

As far as performance goes I am not too worried about that, I am normally running in 2S and not really doing any serious racing. I just like the looks of them. I have something similar on my UDRs and so far been happy with them on the UDRs. The classic 1/10 slash can be a little bit light for my track surface, a little extra weight might help it in some ways.

The bead lock wheels you currently are using... do they hold the tires securely?

Thanks.

You nailed it. That’s exactly how they work. As far as I know, the majority of short course beadlocks are this design.

From my past experiences with Slash and SC10 trucks, the beads never held, even on low power setups.

Yeah I never had much luck with them. Beads slip out or get cut. Gluing takes time but it's not that hard.

Yea, I was concerned about that.
Just looking at the design makes me think I should glue the inner bead, just never tried gluing rubber tires to a meal rim.

I am also not very good at all with gluing tires.

3 out of 4 failed on my last set that I glued . lol
Now in fairness I am pretty sure the painted plastic rims plaid a factor, the painted aspected anyway.
I wanted to make a set of white retro slot rims, That was my goal.
Got the look I wanted with them, tires even handled great too. Just the painted wheel seems to have been the failure point, or that I suck at glueing tires likely could have been a factor as well. Not 100% sure.

I ordered one of these for next tire glueing attempt. Not sure if it will help but figured it can’t hurt. 😂 lol

If you can find beadlock wheels with tons of screws for gripping the tire securely, then that would be most excellent. I had two sets of Pro-Line wheels for my SC10, and stock Axial beadlock wheels for Yeti. Six screws for the securing the beadlock rings...

A couple of good hard runs on 2S and that was all she wrote. I was always fixing those darn things. Faux is good enough for me.

Yea, been playing around with the new Traxxas faux bead-locks today.
These fit UDRs and Maxx Slash models.

This center cap portion is for the Maxx Slash only.

You can see here on the UDR there is simply not enough thread available to ever secure the nut.

Traxxas has this alternate center for the UDR.
Mine finally came in this week and I started swapping them over today.

I do like how you can mix things up with the various bits to create different looks.

My favorite combo, is black wheel with a silver or grey ring.
Which I did create a real set of bead locks by ordering the black wheels and silver rings separately from Vitivan .

I have also gone the cheap route and broke out the silver paint pens and painted over the bright colored rings on the OEM UDR wheels and tires.

I don't think the jog is necessary. Just watch some tutorials. It's not that hard but does take some patience.

That’s probably my problem. Lol
I am not good with stickers either. lol

My OCD is not very tolerant of flaws either. lol
All makes for needing all the help I can get to ever hope to get good at gluing these tires. lol 😂

Imo the jigs give you false sense of security. Just follow some YouTube tutorials. Like most things prep is a big factor in success. Cleaning the tires and rims with dish soap and/or wiping them down with alcohol prior to glue makes it much better. I think your mistake with that last batch was painted wheels. That won't work imo. Can't paint the gluing surface unless you plan to remove the paint prior to gluing.
