hello to all I'm new to the forum and the working part of the hobby but so far i love it lol. but i have a nitro rustler with the trx 2.5 and it will not start unless i put fuel directly in the carb I've sealed the engine cleaned the carb and needles reset them to the factory settings multiple times with no results it still doesn't want to start on its own and after about 10-15 minutes of driving it shuts off with out restarting for another 10 minutes. any suggestions or advice will be greatly appreciated
thanks

the way the engine runs and hard starting seems like it's a mix between too lean and too rich the reason i say this is at factory settings with both needles the car bogs at full throttle and tries to die but yet with the pinch test the motor does raise the rpm's and dies

Is it new? You shouldn't be going for full throttle till the end of the break in period. Bogging is part of the tuning issue, since it's still rich.
How cold is it where you are? Nitro engines hate cold, and you won't get a proper break in.

When you start, watch your fuel lines, if there is not a solid line of fuel from the tank to the carb, put your finger over the exhaust stinger and crank it a few times and get some pressure build up, then try cranking it like normal.

its about 3 months old so break in has been done. All the fuel lines and tank has been replaced, and the only thing i thought could be a problem was the pipe but it was checked. The only thing about it confusing me is that it takes so much to start which doesn't make any sense to me cause the fuel fills the lines, but still doesn't start until i pour fuel into the carb. oh i live in chattanooga area so its not too cold about 30ish today

High speed: Leaner
Low Speed: a little Richer
Idle: Further open

Did you press firmly on the lid of the gas tank?

yes i press the gas lid down firmly every time i fill it. will the adjustments you suggested help the starting?

Bad tuning can absolutely effect starting, especially idle setting! Here's a vid to help you out a little: [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0b1PP9Zp8OA&feature=player_embedded"]YouTube - Nitrorcx Guide: Questions and Answers[/ame]

i thank you greatly for the vid I'm going to try it again tomorrow see if i can just get it to start on its own lol

figured out my problem it was the carb body where the fuel inlet is so I'm replacing the motor for 90 bucks lol thanks traxxas

DONT REPLACE THE ENGINE IF ITS THE CARB!!!! Replace the carb! it would be way cheaper thatway

I know right like cheap for a carb why replace hole engine haha, i had a good web site for parts like that but can't find it at the moment but some company's sell anything you could need for the engine carb head anything so i would check that out can get a carb for around 20 bucks I'm sure....

it cost me a extra £20 to get the full lot for a hpi bullet when i just needed a crab so I now have a spare for when I kill the engine just need to refit the carb to it

Pick up the glow plug slide a new engine under it I'm confused replace the carb save your money!:hehe:

true it would be cheaper to replace the carb but the engine doesn't have enough compression about 2 fingers spins it so for less then the price of a carb body (14.99) the hsn (10.99) sleve and piston set (58.99) so its about the same either way i went lol so i just went with a brand new engine not just a rebuild seemed smarter at the moment
