I remember reading somewhere that you could keep adjusting a needle until you get your engine to start. Then retune from there. I wish I could remember where I found that. But I don't recall which needle they were adjusting. I want to say the person was adjusting the HSN 1/8th at a time until he was able to start the engine. Has anyone heard of something similar? Have you tried it?

Whenever I get the settings so far off that it won't start, I set it back to the factory recommended break in settings.

If it won't start there, check your glow heater battery, replace the glow plug.

I've heard of guys making adjustments like that AFTER it was running. Sounds like what olds mentioned, going back to factory settings (which is usually on the rich side), to get things started again.
