Spektrum - Coming Out with a New Radio?

David is more referring to the problems with the RC8X, and the firmware update that has been killing peoples' radios. There has been a number of discussions basically contradicting your statement about them having great customer service and working on updates with the community. They have instead ignored people with these problems by bouncing pointless emails back and forth to frustrated customers, then ultimately ceasing contact altogether.

I don't even have a Radiolink, but I followed a number of the discussions in various RC groups. They basically have a number of people that are ticked off at them for selling them a $300 radio, then turning it into a brick with their firmware update, and have offered zero solutions for [I believe] over a year now. I would never buy one of their products after reading all the horror stories from people that are now out $300

There has also been a number of YT vids with RC8X equipped cars losing signal, going full throttle, and grenading on impact.
I have heard of problems with the RC8, but I didn’t realize the problems had elevated to that level. That really does suck.
I hope they solve that mess soon.

It's been going on for almost a year now and they still don't know what we are talking about so I highly doubt it. I ditched the 8x and went with flysky. Made the right choice. And, I was one of the first person to discover the issues with the 8x

But to the right subject, this new spektrum looks great

Drag race launch control - I win 😁

This actually looks kinda interesting. Still watching vid though...

Android based. web access (I win again), so if you break a part, you can access the web on it and order new parts? Hmm. You would need wifi for that, which would require a hotspot. But ok.

I am surprised. It's actually kinda cool.

Hold on, how many channels is this radio?
Probably way more than anyone with a surface RC will ever need. The whole Android thing is cool, but how much are they going to charge for a replacement screen when you drop it and break it? And the whole web access thing is gimmicky. You'll need your phone with ya for a hot spot, so why would you go through that just to get on the web on the radio if you have your phone on ya?

For $700, I'd buy a Futaba or Sanwa long before I bought this.

I like the interface graphics, but that start up time is ridiculous. Has some nice features, but I guess I'm just a budget radio kind of guy. I don't see anything in there that I need, that makes it worth that kind of money. The I gotta have the latest gadget crowd, will fawn all over it I'm sure, but I'm not in that category.

+1

Ding ding ding!!! Congrats kids! Google is involved. Let the tracking begin!
Not if this thing drove another car for me to race with! Aaaaaaaall set with wifi rc!!! Hard pass!
Yeah, I didn't even think about that. The first step in the government putting their hand in the RC hobby. How dare we have an electronic device in our hands that doesn't track our location 😅

Google made it very difficult for me to have privacy. I try now to make it difficult for them to be involved with me AT ALL.
I am aware that I can't block them out entirely. (I wouldn't post here if I was so concerned)
This doesn't mean I'm going to just cave and hand them all my info.
DNS and firewalls and FOSS apps etc.

Here come the "tin foil hat" comments but...
This radio IS the start of a dangerous trend of tracking etc.

Imagine this. You break your car and got a DNF in a race. The part you broke comes up in an Ad in the spektrum software 🤣 🤷‍♂️

Lol, yeah, there you go.
