If any of you are into airbrush art, this is one badass airbrush.
Sotar.SF (1).webp

I am no expert, but of the 4 airbrushes I have, including one Iwata Revolution, this Badger has the best trigger response, and spray pattern. Where my other airbrushes tend to not spray until the trigger is moved back a bit, this Sotar starts spraying immediately, giving a very expected and consistent spray pattern, as opposed to my other brushes, which are a tad trickier to control doing really fine detail work repetitively.

It's a bit spendy, but this airbrush has some pretty unique features. The trigger is closer to the tip, giving a better feel. It feels more like holding a pencil than regular airbrushes do. The side-feed cup can be rotated, so you can stand this airbrush straight vertical and spray downward if you want, or anywhere in between. The cup being on the side, and trigger forward also give you a much better view of what you are spraying than standard gravity feed brushes. The paint cup can also be mounted on the left or right side. Another cool feature is the needle can be removed without taking the airbrush apart, which comes in very handy. And to top it off, it's made right here in the USA by Ken Badger himself.

The shipping may take a bit, as Badger is just Ken and his wife I believe. So be patient. Mine took nearly a month to ship, but I believe this last batch is ready to go now, whereas mine was still in production. So they should ship out sooner from here on, but again, they are a two man team, handling all aspects of the business themselves, so be patient. They will deliver.

That alone is a huge selling point for me...even though I won't be buying it because I do not use my current Iwata brush nearly enough to justify the spend lol. The trigger location is my biggest gripe every time I use my airbrush. WHY AREN'T THEY ALL LIKE THAT!?

How my carpal tunnel has my hand feeling after a paint sesh:

I like the look of this, removing the needle without full disassembly is nice. I wonder if this design is any easier to clean than the iwata.
Wish I could throw some money at this one...I'll have to keep it on my short list when I can afford it

It cleans about the same. Except the paint cup doesn't penetrate the airbrush, exposing the needle body behind the tip. The cup cleans easier I think.

Yea. That's what interested me. I feel like the iwata takes some effort to make sure it's thoroughly clean so the needle doesn't gum up with old paint.

I really like this design. Time to save some dollars.

Better hurry. It is a limited edition, and there are less than 50 left.

My cheap airbrushes work just fine for the fish I build.

The cheap airbrushes have gotten a lot better, nothing wrong with that. :thumbs-up:

I prefer the siphon feed, it gives me an unobstructed view. Most people prefer a gravity feed, but I always feel like the cup is in my way.
This is my preferred Badger
I never spray enough paint to need a siphon feed. But... another cool feature is, since this is a side feed airbrush, there is more than likely a siphon cup that will fit it. So this airbrush could be converted pretty easily.

I'm not knockin' gravity feed, just a personal quirk of mine. The syphon jars come in handy when painting rc planes. :thumbs-up:
My first 3 air brushes were siphon feed. I could never keep them spraying well. But I think most of that was having a crappy compressor.
