i just finished up with my new project on my Mini T and when i went to run it. the motor was spinning but it didnt go anywhere. does anyone know what i did wrong?

Is the spur gear spinning?

yes its spinning the spur, is there a chance i could have stripped the inside of the pinion and its not going anywhere?

yeah thats whats wrong with it. the pinion spun out of the shaft on the motor. i have to pick up a metal one. how do i know that a metal pinion i get will fit over the shaft on my motor?

Just take the motor with you. If your LHS is worth its salt they will let you either try the pinion out first or tell you which one will fit.

Take the motor with you.

If your motor shaft does not have a flat spot for the set screw, use a Dremel to make one. Put the motor in a zip loc or other plastic bag and poke the shaft through and then do the grinding. The bag will keep the shavings from entering the motor since the magnets will attract metal filings.
