yeap. friend of mine did the reverse of that on a FF01 back in high school. the motor in the FF01 is the front bumper (literally, it's in front of the front shock tower) he had a dodge ram body on it and cut the grills out and replace it with screen so the motor got all the air.
 
Before sct's were a thing we just cut holes in the windshields of everything. I still do. I dont think of myself as old though, rather seasoned instead 😎

Screen is a great way to make it look good though. Love it. Carry on!
 
I would lose the windows except the body would be weak...

Back in the day the vehicles didnt weigh anywhere near what they do now. They weren't nearly as fast either. The added speed and weight coming down on them isn't great. Lexan used to be used primarily and was thicker then also.

You can still do it, but if you want it to be strong it needs to be only as much as needed to get the effect your going for. Smooth rounded edges help a lot in keeping them from cracking.

I feel like you've been around a while and already know this yourself 😎
