As I have never owned a new Traxxas anything, I am wondering if the roller I picked up today is current (pre clipless body though) or an older version. The only other Slash 2WD I have ever owned was also bought used, but, since I bought that directly from the original owner, I had a lot more info about it, whereas, this one, I bought from a guy on FB marketplace, who said he bought it at a rummage sale, and he didn't know much about it. The last roller I bought was a VXL, and had hex hardware, and the diff was white plastic, whereas, this one has all Phillips screws, and the diff is black plastic. Is that something they currently do for the brushed models, or, is this one an older version? I'm more curious than anything is all. For what I paid for that and a Slash 4X4 roller ($100 for the pair, and the 4X4 has nearly new sledgehammers on it from the Stampede, so, I definitely think I got my money's worth), I was surprised at how good condition they were in. I stripped them both, and, new rubber shielded bearings in both, diffs were well greased on the outside gears, and, overall, they seem very well maintained. Only thing I haven't done yet is pull the diffs apart on either one to see what they look like inside, but, they all turn like they should, so I think I'm good there. The part I thought was most interesting with both is that they came with 9T Arrma brushed motors, both of which work well (I tried them in my Senton project truck), but no ESC's, and both had Savox servo's, which I'm gonna be selling to a friend that races. I have enough cheap digital servo's I can use.

And, now I'm even more confused, since, the servo is centered in the chassis, and, the chassis is black, not gray, so, how old can it really be? I'm pretty sure it's a Traxxas Slash, since every part on it matches a friends Slash that I'm currently working on, except for the chassis, and, only because of the servo placement.

Thank you. I was driving myself nuts trying to figure it out. Now, what to do with it. Knowing me, I'll put it back together and let someone beat on it.
They are super durable trucks. I used to bash the hell out of one, and I only broke it like twice. It was also my first true hobby grade

I tend to have had the exact opposite happen with me. I think I broke everything except the chassis on the two I owned. I even managed to break RPM parts on one. In this video, it was in the snow and cold, so I don't count it towards how many times I broke it, or something failed:
I run mainly at a skate park though, so breakages are expected. I even destroyed the entire front suspension on an Arrma Senton hybrid I built, but, oddly, I barely ever broke anything on my overbuilt Slash 4X4.
