I have a MLST now with a Tekin ESC and mamba 8.0Kv brushless. I'm using a 1200 MAh NiMh pack. I believe the brushless combo is this: Tekin mini Rage 8.0 Extreme

Anyone know of a ballpark figure that it should last on a charge? It seems to die pretty quick (~6 minutes). I don't know if I'm not charging long enough or if something is wrong or if 6 minutes is normal. Maybe geared too tall or too short?

Also, what would a mediocre charger be that would possibly work with 110V and 12V that would charge a 6v-7.2v 2/3A pack? I've been using a 800Mah 12V transformer I bought at radio shack to charge my receiver packs for the past year... I charge until the temp of the pack is about 10F warmer than the room.

Basically, I'm lost.

You have a big motor in that so runtimes may be decreased over a smaller setup. But you should at least see 10-15 minute runtimes I would think. I know that with my rc18mt with a mamba comp package I get 20 minute run times. As for a charger either a losi, or I use a Promaxx Black widow. It gives me everything I need, charges differnt amps and crap like that, I dont know it verry well I just set it to the lowest rating and let her charge slow as not to fry anything. Hope you can make something out of that lol.

It sounds like you might not be putting a full charge on the battery. I would suggest looking for a charger that will also charge Lipo...If you stick with electric will probably buy lipos later.

I doubt that I would buy anything else electric... I just need a charger that can charge this thing and my receiver packs in my Aftershock and Revo.

How warm should a pack get when it's peaked?

I ran the Mamba 8. with a Teken Rage and a 1400 6 cell pack yesterday. Our heats are 3 min and the main is 4.

After running the heats (Ill toot my horn and say I'm running FAST :D ) I feel no decrease in power. After 3 minutes during the main I do feel that I have to put just a tad more into the throttle to keep the same pace. With this being said, I would imagine I could keep race speeds up to 6 minutes If I had to. This is with a properly peaked matched race set of 1400s.

If you hot a brick wall head on at full throttle, you wont have to worry how long the battery will last.

I have grown to like this charger more and more.

It will charge just about anything up to 6 cells and does lipo as well. It has a few features but not a lot of fancy stuff. It give a solid peaked charge, shows the peak V, current voltage, is adjustable from .5 amps to 5 amps and up to 2.5 amps lipo.

Thanks a lot Eddy. I'm bidding on one now.

I've been in the hobby for 6 years... it's about time I bought an actual charger.

Any advice as to which lipo pack to use... if I decide to do so?

Thanks. I'll shoot him a PM.

I thought Losi came out with a LiPo pack for the MLST... It appears they only came out with one for the micro-t. I would have used that for comparison if they had one.

I use the same charger Ed posted up for charging my receiver batteries and sometimes some stick packs. Great charger! First "real" charger I have owned, and I love it!

I went with the cheaper lame one that doesn't do lipo. After driving the micro around the house, I'm pretty sure the MLST is going to go up for sale.

Thanks for the info though guys. I appreciate the help.
