I started with a trx4 defender 1/10 then mosied over to element enduros and I now have an scx10ii. They all work great for different intentions. Overall my trx4 is what got me started so I have a soft spot for that in particular. My enduros out crawled a buddies modified scx10iii in certain aspects. Now my scx10ii is my go to and well I use it the most

Well thing is don't know that I'm just serious all in crawling. I don't have no places around with lots of rocks. And as far as what I got here at home this area below is what I have for crawling...View attachment 217380View attachment 217381
Plenty of potential. I would look around for some construction sites that have concrete debris or, simply go rock collecting. In my backyard my unfinished course is made up of concrete rubble and debris, along with river rock. @WickedFog or @Tunedfrog had suggested to pile up some stuff and use a burlap mesh or chicken wire to lay down and then skim coat it with some mortar to make hills and obstacles. Correction: @Tunedfrog suggested leave it loose to change it up if needed; @WickedFog suggested using mesh or wire with a coat of concrete or mortar.
Rock and debris collecting is a lot of work trust me; my little truck doesn't carry much in one load either, but well worth it once it starts to take form.
You have a pretty good-sized area, looks to be perfect for some minis too.

Yeah well there's definitely lots of River Rocks there already Ifvi just kinda move them around and pile some of them up.

They don't make it anymore but the OG Losi Night Crawler was insane out of the box. Was my first hobby grade RC and it out preformed everything else that I have owned.

Is you still buy the Night Crawler? I know the most recent one is the more scale realistic, but are those discontinued?

You could easily put a comp crawler body and 2.2 wheels/tires on it to make it like the old one.

I'm not sure. We built a pair of them and they did very well. So much so that it took quite a while to lay out a new rig which beats them in our terrain. During the build process, we tracked down the over-drive worm gear for the front and a few other upgrade parts that we could find. Transmission gears seem to be the hardest to find, but we were able to stock up on those as well. Overall, it's a fun crawler.

I didn't like it with 2.2" wheels; didn't fit the narrow track width. 1.9's with 4.75" tires feel like the sweet spot for this machine.

Actually wanting to get tbis some day as the rocks get quite extreme near where I live.

I still like mine to resemble a vehicle that I recognize instead of an alien. Having said that I have been tempted to buy one of these a few times, they really are incredible performers. I know one day I will breakdown and get one. 🤣

Here are pics of my old Losi night crawler from around 2018 ish. Honestly the old Panther Leopard tires are still the best 2.2 tires that I have ever used. Gmade Bighorns (not good at all) on the back to act as a rear underdrive of sorts. Wish this style of crawler was more popular these days.

RC4WD is quite a dated design and fairly easy to beat on the course. The upside to the Bully is that it's affordable and gets you into the 2.2" MOA class right away. MOA is slowing down because you end up dealing with one of these to compete against:

So unless you're cool being $2000 into the hole right away, it's extremely hard to beat these machines. In super chunky terrain, a tuned Capra running 2.2's is gonna run with a Bully with no problem. Portals will give it better clearance and there are far more tuning options for the Capra.

Supers are the ultimate and make 2.2" look like Walmart toys.

I remember going to the Dlux sight a couple years back and then I forgot about it. I was under the impression that these people were still buying and trading aging AX10 and Berg axles and components for their build.

Still wishing there were more $300-$600 "comp crawler style" rigs that would be prime for modifications.
