Can you put in the series pack pinion and only run the truck on one battery pack? I don't want to have to change it out everytime i got from one pack to 2 in series..any reason i can't run it all the time? I'm getting my Revo today and want to set it up so i can run the 2 packs in series...but will it hurt anything to run it on one pack? Or just longer time to accelerate and faster battery drain? Thanks for any info...

Dan

I haven't swapped out the pinion and I run two batteries occasionally in series. The speed from this setup is ridiculous but run time is horrible. I mostly run the two batteries in parallel because the truck is more manageable. Get both connectors, its worth it.

Try both before you swap out the pinion. I don't see the need. Also cut a hole in the windshield. It'll help keep that little brushless motor cool and won't go into thermal shutdown as often.

Have fun.

i already know i'm putting like 4 heatsinks on it and cutting the holes in the winshield for it...it is really faster than i thought just with the 1 pack..i have the plug for series and for parallel...might just do it parallel for now..muy lunch and 1st run was cut short by stepping on a nail and it going through my shoe..damm Tetnis shot! :(

My mini slash pissed me off, i put the pinion on that traxxas says you need for running batteries in a series and it gets waay to hot, i don't know if it has something to do with it running on 2.4 but it gets hot enough it won't move or steer. but if i only run it in parralel its fine for the entire run:\

humm...i thought i didn't have the pinion allen wrench and just found it tonight...i'll have to try it out on sunday when i get back from my trip..i'm pretty happy with the speed of the Revo on only one battery pack by itself..got my wheelie bar today and put it on..and my skid plates and new thrasher bumper will be here next week..then i'm gonna mess with this thing and see what it can do!

the high speed pinion gears it down. you can run it with one stick no prob. i actually geared mine down to 20/45. and run 2 3s 1500 mah lipo parallel.

ok cool...that was what i was hoping to hear..don't want to have to change the pinion out everytime i want to change my pack setup....

well ran my truck today at lunch..1st of all HOLY HELL this thing hauls with 2 packs in series and the high speed pinion! WOAH! Wheelies while rolling at 20mph is sick! Then threw in a single pack and ran it...it is course was a lot slower and not a ton of punch off the line..worked ok but wasn't thrilling...but cool to try out..motor was way cool with just one pack in this config....but the excitement wasn't there :(

Just jumped onto the Lipo bandwagon with 2 11.1v 3S packs And a basic charger/balancer on the way..gonna see how these are in the MERV!

guy on ebay had 2 1550mah 3S 11.1V Rhino packs with the traxxas connectors and the balance wires plus the basic triton D/C balance charger for like $65 - couldn't pass it up...i'm gonna order a decent charger next week - but this gets me by till i have the funds..

will do my friend....i'm hoping they get here tomorrow so i can charge them and use them on saturday for some bashing...know i have to mod my battery doors a bit to accomodate them...

Ok..well all i can say is HOLY CRAP! 3s LiPo is the way to friggin go...geez....got the MERV out this weekend with my LiPo's i got last week....and mother of R/C! the burst ability of the LiPo is crazy - being able to wheelstand at like 35 MPH when i punch it is just nuts...my father in law has a RC18T - and it was just a joke...went to a big school parking lot and just romped on it... i'd give him a 75 foot headstart - and within 100 feet i'd catch up - wheel stand as i did and then pass him like a F-15 pouncing on a bi-plane! HAHAHA! Total fun...and the runtime for the 1550 Mah Rhino packs was great too....man this thing is fun! Then got a chance to take it out at a buddies house on some loose dirt and realized it has too much power for low traction surfaces....just spins and spins..but i got some jumps in yesterday and when hit right this little beast fly's real well...i'm so impressed with brushless that i'm actually thinking of a Bandit VXL now...humm.. :)

Lipos are the only way to go ;)

after i put the NiMh packs back in when the LiPo's were run down i realized they were actually better for loose surface running...they didn't have the high burst of the LiPo's so they were more forgiving on the dirt...so i'm gonna keep both types of packs and use them as the conditions see best...but it's fun no matter what.. :)

just got the Thunder AC6 charger and i gotta say it works awesome on LiPo's! had to get a squid cable set - but for like $70 total for everything i think it is a good deal for anyone trying to get into LiPo's...just thought i'd pass it on..
