It arrived. My 'go for a walk' battery. Also my shock covers..

Having a blast taking it out for 45 minutes every morning. I overbought on batteries, one 5000mh 3s is enough for me for 45 minutes, but I mostly just do donuts and sprints. I'm having a blast, purchasing a cellphone mount so I can get some footage. Got him real wet in a puddle and mostly cleaned off before bringing him back in.

Should I be using Locktite on the wheel nuts? One in particular is getting loose after running around for 45 minutes.

Is the water resistance good enough that I could rinse it in my sink with a little dish sprayer, or would that be too concentrated?

No breakage or severe wrecks so far, I don't mind seeing it flip doing high speed turning. I'm going to get it super clean, install the shock covers, take some good pics and then do the headlight in the next week.

I also wanted to ask, we had LiPo when I was doing Tamiyas, but it seems like in the time since then, there's a stigma about having fully charged batteries just sitting around? Any advice, I appreciate.

I told myself I'd do an hour at sunrise, I did that, but an hour at sundown and an hour just now.

He got a little warm in the heavy grass but he's cooling fine. This little fella can go anywhere.

I learned today, the ESC HSF will not turn off if it's obstructed. Once I cleared it, it turned off.

One thing to note about all the newer Traxxas esc's don't turn off by the button anymore you have to unplug the battery to turn it off. It's probably a safety feature to protect your battery and cause an over discharge which could either cause a fire or render the battery unchargable.

I googled what it was doing, a slow red blink; I just swapped batteries and it was fine. Are LiPo's safe to store fully charged?

No, They have to be storage charged it's not a good idea to store them fully charged. I can tell you're new to the hobby.

Thank you. I did Tamiyas before, never anything this big. Storing them. Thank you.
No problem i've been in this hobby for almost 6.5 years i did them when i was 10 - 11 back in 2010 - 2011 and got back in 2021 and still rock'n in 2025 and most likely until i can't do it anymore.

If you are done running cars for the day, storage charge your batteries. Any fully charged ones can remain charged if you plan to run again the next day. But a day is as long as I will leave one full.

It is not good to leave any LiPo fully charged (including your cell phone battery). It will slowly degrade your LiPo's if you leave them like that. There are lots of videos out there on YT that teach LiPo care and safery. You should take a little time and go study up. It will really prolong the life of your LiPo batteries by taking proper care of them 😉

This guy has a ton of knowledge about LiPo care, charger specs, etc. You're going to learn something today 😅

These are very useful, thank you, going to absorb them all. - EDIT - Watched them all. I don't have a voltage monitor, but I will take what this guy says seriously. I had an oven mitt just in case, but now I'll get a leather glove. I know Traxxas isn't selling me a bomb, but what he said seems like good advice : Just watch it. I will never charge a battery on my carpet without watching it, probably get a piece of steel siding to sit under my little station. I really appreciate you putting together those links for me.

Took the 7500mah 2s out, it makes me way less nervous. I put my car about 10 feet into a few people's yards and got it stuck under a lady's bumper in the parking lot yesterday, it didn't hurt anything obviously but I didn't want to explain it. Having a blast!

So far I've had a lot of fun on pavement and grass, I have some dirt pits nearby and beaches, are those both safe for a car you want to have for a year or more? Obviously it's good on dirt, but what are the downsides other than additional cleaning? I saw here the gentleman who lived in the UAE trying to bash this exact car on sand and it looked like it took a big toll on everything, even had tire nuts getting stripped.

Got another hour left in me today, topping it off and maybe I'll get to go out before it gets too hot.

Do the two red buttons on the top of the TQi do anything or are they for TQi's without the Bluetooth module?

I want to say this carefully, I don't want to sound like a hater. I installed the tire mount, custom bumper and mud flaps; I really love the bumper and I love the mudflaps, the way the tire makes it look. But I feel like the tiny amount of damage I have done to my truck so far is almost entirely contributed to that tire mount. I will probably purchase a new body soon, mine is fracturing around the tail end where I made cuts. I wonder, if it'd be possible to cut a single circular hole for that mod instead of cutting the entire ass off the truck? I might deleted the tire mount mod if I can't find a longer lasting version of it.

Tomorrow, I'd like to really dial in the shocks, clean them up, install the shock covers and try to find the right ride height to cut down on the rollover flips as much as possible on concrete.

Shertbert made some weird sounds yesterday, but I realized it was just his body trapped in the chassis at high speed. Any time I hear it, I just make sure his body is free and it goes away.

De-modding the tire ASAP, nothing on this truck has broke yet, but I keep having to repair the tire mount. I'll take the bumper, the mudflaps, going to move away from tire carriers and buy a deceptively plain Slash body. My biggest let down is the body mods.

All my Slash’s and most of my RC’’s that I run / use ,
I use flex seal to undercoat the bodies.
Top 3 benefit's.
1.Protects the paint.
2.Makes the bodies more flexible less likely to rip and crack.
3.Helps get rid of the plastic slapping sounds.

Brother, that is brilliant. When I purchase a new body, that'll be the route I go down. For now, I've uninstalled the tire mount and just have a big cavity in the body, I don't care, it's all really new, going to use this body and grow with it and get a new one in a few months or something.

I really love what you're doing with your trucks!

For anyone finding this later and are on the fence : RPM bumper + mudflaps are amazing. Both tire mount systems from RPM raise vulnerability because it bolts directly to the rear bumper and any time you flip it, the rear end gets a hard hit, no mitigation from the body or the shocks.

I might do something like this to my future rc bodies since this looks and maybe works better than shoegoo\e6000 and drywall tape.

I have done both at times for track cars that I know will be taking a lot of abuse and have weak areas I know are prone to cracking and tearing.
The pic of the older slash body above was a track body I had taped up with rubber flex seal tape in the areas I know are prone to paint damage from tire burns then flex seal sprayed over the entire underside of the body.

You can still sort of see the tape showing under the flex seal coating, in this pic.
On the tail section that is very prone to tearing I used a flex seal caulking material in those areas.

This body I setup 6-7 years ago for track use, and a few weeks ago added the clip less body kit seen on it now.

The shoegoo and drywall tape approach, I have typically use to attempt to repair and reinforce already weakened and damaged bodies.

The flex seal and tape etc measures that I use, seems to have dramatically reduced the need to break out the drywall tape and shoegoo for repairs.
It’s been a long time since I needed to use shoegoo to repair anything. Partially because of the flex seal and partially because don’t tend to run my stuff as hard anymore. Meaning I have also figured out that if I run my 3S rated RCs with 2S and my 6S RCs with 4S, I still seem to be having just as much fun and I know I break a lot less stuff. Lol

That's cool, i was looking at doing this to my future bodies i either get with new cars or new bodies i paint up for my current cars. My XO-1 body is cracked in a couple places and i plan to paint up a new one and try reinforce it same with any new bodies i get in the future or at least that's the plan.
